Are 3/8 x 11 a really uncommon joint size?

I have a cue I really love, and found out it is a 3/8x11 pin size.

Was looking at getting a spare shaft, maybe carbon, maybe kielwood, but it seems like 3/8x10 is popular, but I'm finding bupkis on the x11 sizes.

Any thoughts on where to look?

The only that comes to mind is the Triple 60 shaft that they make an insert for this pin, otherwise you’ll have to custom order one, either from scratch or modify an existing shaft.

Are Southwest pins the same size or slightly different than a 3/8x11

SW and ZEN are using the same 3/8x11 pin - Cuetec, Kieth Andy, Jacoby, Hayakawa and a few others are making carbon shafts with this pin. You will certainly pay a premium, and you will certainly spent more time than you would like looking for one to "try before you buy".

Joint adapter ebya.jpg

Rhino sells a 3/8x11 shaft
Or get a 1.5" mid-cue extension/adapter/weight weighing 1.5 ounces from Cue Extensions Plus:

You can get a shaft 3/8 x 11 from Triple 60 or Jacoby that will fit I know personally as I have both.
Which Jacoby did you go for? I did consider trying out a v4 or v5 (probably the only carbon shaft I haven't tried on my Zen), though it is quite overpriced in this part of the world which put me off. No friends to test, and a no refund policy from the seller.

Tried Hayakawa, Cuetec, Kieth Andy, A Revo that was re-tapped, Triple60 standard and FG, and some Chinese/Vietnamese brands. Stand firm that Carbon is overpriced hype marketed at whoever will throuw money at it. Pros use what they get paid to use, and I am waiting to be proven otherwise.

Cuetec was the best for feel and sound, though the taper is horrible. The Kieth Andy a close second. Triple 60 was decidedly average, some no name brands out performed it in many aspects.

The Hayakawa KW shaft I have is decent, wouldn't have thought to buy one if I wasn't given it. Recently switched back to my Zen Xpro2 while I wait for a re-tip on the KW. Had forgotten what a beautiful piece of wood it was.

I have proven this many times…
Every cue company that makes CF also makes wood and the sponsored players have a choice and many of them use the wooden option, I’ve even posted a partial yet impressive list of players.

I’m currently using the Predator Centro, I got to say that I’m really impressed with it and really like it, but I don’t know how, it already got a tiny dent in it. CF is the way to go…

Have you tried the Universal Nova? Any thoughts on it?
I recently got one and it feels and plays nice but haven’t had enough table time with it.

Kielwood seems like a fab to me more than anything else. They are brittle and are not as low deflection as CF.
Also looks like mainly an American thing, you don’t see non American makers making it and hardly see it internationally and there is no non-American pro player that uses them.

Not uncommon in Taiwan. Most of the cues from there are 3/8x11, I believe. From the cheapest, to the most expensive (like Zen cues, for example), from what I have seen. SW Style cues are very popular there.

From what I have seen during my search for aftermarket 3/8x11 shafts is that a lot of them use the Southwest joint diameter.

My Jacoby is the V4 the V5 was not out yet and as far as I know you cannot get it in 3/8 x 11 yet.

I prefer the Triple 60 in 30" I just like the taper.
