Are Corey and Melling the 2 best at dissecting an 8 ball rack ever?

I like that statement Stu….”Greatness is measured in titles.”……I was a big frog in a small pond in my area…..I’ve had people tell whoppers to my face about some pool and snooker exploits…..I would tell them it wasn’t so…..but titles you got for life.
A lot of the legend stories are related by people who don’t understand and become exaggerations.
We're on exactly the same page, but let's take note that in pool, all that's ever recorded is who wins titles. Nobody knows what the career TPA is of any selected player or what any given player's rate of break and run is? Golf is a little different. Sand save percentage was recorded, so we KNEW that Gary Player was the best player out of the sand. Pool does not, and may never, track performance at that level of detail. Yes, in so many areas of pool, all we have is the eye test. We're pretty sure a) that Shane has the best ever break, b) that Reyes, Varner, and Pagulayan were the three best defensive players ever, c) that Hall, Rempe, Souquet and Appleton were the best ever pattern players, but we don't know for sure because the corroborating data isn't out there.

... but when it comes to major titles, we've got all the data we need. We know who won. To win a major, one must beat champion after champion with nearly every match played on a different table than the last one. We understand how hard that is to do, and that's why we appreciate how difficult it is to win at the majors.

I care about pool
The US was the Mecca for pool players who wanted to play with the best and becaome a pro. Not so much anymore and I find it sad.
Why not make America great again in pool as well?
I think it would take far more than just burning every barbox ever made, at this point pool just is not a viable career choice, until it is I doubt that there will be much effort input. I realize you cant expect to grow the sport without serious involvement from players but the players see very little reward for their efforts. I think the interweb killed a lot of the players options. Barboxes make sense for the owners of them, 9' tables just take up too much room for ROI unless you are a legit pool hall, I think that's where people expect to find 9' tables. its hard to look past barboxes for tournaments because there are so many out there, many league players are not even interested in playing on 9' tables. I had guys in league that flat refused to play on my table because "its too big". I don't know what the solution is.

Quick, everyone grab your torches... Someone dared to coin the phrase "GOAT" and it wasn't about your personal fav...!....lol

Look, if you don't consider Corey one of the most deadly on a "BARBOX". Then you need to watch more Corey BB. I didn't insinuate he was the GOAT 8b player, but....
If you wanna see a GOAT on the hill…..you may have to change your location……

Defining who are best at dissecting the rack is pretty easy really, once one addresses the matter properly :) Those are players I'd call "natural thinkers", i.e. their playing style is as such, and rarely changes. Omit great shotmakers, life-saving shots, etc. - just recall which players behave as described at the table, 8-ball included. Imagine their posture thinking the shots over, the way they study the overall position and problem areas (clusters and so on).

Corey Deuel? Definitely he is such a thinker! The other one who is reeeeally into it every time, is Konstantin Stepanov. Ralf Souquet, of course. Efren Reyes? He rarely had to spend that time examining the position. He's a Magician, just way way too creative to be considered for "dissecting" :D
