Are JB cases supposed to be really tight?

I just received my rugged case. It's supposed to be 2X3, but it's kind of difficult to get all three shafts in once the butts are in. Am I missing something? Taking them out was a pain.

It might help if you put them in so the fat part of the butt is opposite the fat part of the shaft, if you don't do that already. I put mine in my rugged so the cue tip is facing up and the butt cap is facing up. But I only fill 6 of the spots in my 3x4.

I'll give that a shot. For now I stuck them in like I normally do (pins up, tips down) but I didn't push them all the way down, just far enough so that the lid will close. Makes it easier to pull them out.

I believe one of the selling points of the JB cases is that you can tip your case upside down and none of the shafts/butts will come spilling out - the idea being if you accidentally knock over your case (or someone else does) when it's opened, your cues won't go flying across the room and get damaged. Mine also was quite tight in the beginning, but after a bit of use, the fabric in mine compressed some so it is not so difficult to remove from the case anymore.

That's what I'm hoping for, just wanted to make sure I got the right one.

Yeah, tips down and pins up or vice versa is the way you have to it with JB's interior. And they do loosen up over time - not so much so that it's a problem and you worry your cues will be sliding around, but to the point where it is easier to put them in and take them out. If you have the case completely full, things do get a little snug at first.

Mine (3x6 Ultimate Rugged) was really tight at first too .. but loosened up a bit over a couple weeks. (pins up tips down) It's still fairly snug (which can be a positive selling point), but overall I like it.

Snug

Snug is the word I use and I have owned 7 or 8 JB rugged cases. They loosen up slightly but my regular carry case is still snug after 2 years of use.

I load my 3 by 4 with butts down and shafts opposite. Sometimes I have to remove a shaft or two to get the butt in the middle out. Still the best bang for the buck going.

I had trouble initially with 2 x 3 before I loaded shafts first, tip up, then Butts pin down. But is sounds like some folks doing opposite and it's working out.

After, 2 years of heavy use tips up, interior has loosened up, looks like new and protects my cues excellent.

-Kat,

Will.....you friggin' slay me with your sense of subtle wit........you have a flair for comedic writing.

TIPS DOWN / PINS UP. Risky business putting a butt in the case pin down with no joint protector.

You don't use JP's ? Risky business after a few pops when you forget to zip lid, do a bag dump, and your cue dive pin first into parking lot:eek: only happens once....
