Are some 3/8x10 joint pins thinner then others?

I have this Adam ACSS pool cue shaft, and I believe that it is 3/8x10, but I am not sure.

I have this set of pins, that are used for shaft cleanings, and I also have another set too, that I have had for awhile.

Well, one of the pins is a little bit thicker then the other, which looks more realistically like a McDermott 3/8x10 pin, for example.

Well, the thicker one will not fit in this shaft, but the thinner one will.

So, I do not know what cues will fit this shaft, that I do not have a pool cue bull for.

Maybe just Adam cues, with the 3/8x10 joint pin? I do not know.

Also, the thinner pin does not even show 3/8, when I measure it. It shows 23/64. This is the pin that fits perfectly into this shaft.

The other one, which does show 3/8, on my digital caliper, does not fit at all, because it is too thick.

Yes, they fit Musashi/Adam - this is different from the 3/8x10 that is popular in the US.

I do have some Musashi/Adam shafts that fit the modified pin, though they are quite rare to find. They are currently for sale, along with a fantastic Vigus butt in the ‘For sale’ section. You should peruse it… :cool:

Like in any standard, there is a margin of error allowed.
So not all pins are equal.
The measurement is at the major and most variations are in the minor.
Some cue maker tap the shaft to be tight and some more loose (like 3rd party shafts) so some shafts will fit all or some butts and some won’t.
If you have a shaft that doesn’t fit a butt, you can tap it to fit. You can actually do it by hand by yourself without a lathe.
I’ve done this with 3/8x10 shafts and 5/16x14 shafts.
