Are the new Tariffs on Goods from China going to affect prices on Pool cues?

I tried researching this question, and I have tried doing research on this topic, but I can't find any answers.

This Tarrif thing is so confusing, and I am very confused about just how much the Tariffs might increase pool cue prices, on cues from China.

I have learned that Tarif tax depends on the type of goods being imported. But, I have not found a category for Pool Cues. All of the Categories are for other types of items. Please forgive my ignorance about this.

And, what if I were to find a used pool cue from a seller in China. Would the new Tariffs effect me, if it were a low cost cue, like in the $500 range for example?

Does anyone happen to know what the Tarif tax would be on a used (if that makes any difference) pool cue from China, and would it even matter if that cue was not made in China? Like, for example, a seller in China that had a US Custom cue for sale? Like for example a Nitti custom cue, from a Chinese seller? Would that make any difference? And, lol, I understand that the price would not be $500 if it were a Nitti. Just making an example.

Thanks for any thoughts / info on these very confusing (to me) Tarifs on Goods from China, and how they will affect the pool cue market, of cues from China.

Thanks again for any thoughts.

Not sure on the custom end, but on the production side, the answer is yes, depending on the cue brand. My contact at the billiards supplier I deal with most frequently, has already had to raise their prices on certain brands in order to stay compliant with certain brand required price increases. The price adjustment took effect in mid April.

Tariff's are what everyone is talking about, worrying about, but the bad News is there is little good info how the Tariffs will affect everyone, everything, and last you personally.

Maybe we all need to hope, pray, and wish for our Government Officials, and the other Government officials in Our Little World quit playing games, to see who has the biggest set of, or largest tool.

Then maybe they will get down to business, and strike deals to make TRADE Fair, Equal, and Equatable for all parties on the Earth.

So the good NEWS is there is NO GOOD NEWS, just Rumors, BS, and Misinformation being spread by MSM, Right, Left, Progressives, the LBQT + Space Alien community.

Hi, can you ask the supplier how much they are being taxed on the new Tariffs? Like 25% for example, up from 10%? I am very curious. And, I have no idea if a used pool cue would make any difference, but I assume not. Like I said, I have researched this, and there is no category on Pool Cues. Not that I have seen anyways. Thanks.

Interesting and highly relevant question. I have been asking around here, many people saying yes, but how exactly, no one is certain as of yet.

The last cue price I was quoted was $312.00 before the increase, and roughly $387.00 after. You do the math.

All the confusion has affected the Stock Market, and the value of the US Dollar though.

Chinese origin pool cues are subject to the full tariff and as of next week the direct ship “Temu” exception (under $800) goes away. It will be interesting to see how much inventory Predator was able to stockpile.

So, in theory, if I order a used US Made pool cue from a seller from China, then I should not have to pay the new Tarif tax? Or, does that not matter? And, what is the new Tarif tax on pool cues from China, being imported to the US? Can't figure that one out. Thanks.

Doesn't affect me. I buy American and already having something being built.

Perhaps the moral of this whole entire tariff thing is for you guys to stop buying those rebranded Chinese cues and perhaps support the domestic cue makers. Word has it the cue builders here are the best in the world. It's actually a known fact.

Plenty of nice stuff on the used market too even though I suggest buying from the cue builder. Lets say because of the tariffs you are force to buy an American cue then its not bad at all.

Then some of you guys can appreciate what Made in USA is all about when you see these cues.

Also, this forces Americans to create and produce something equal or better.

You want a LD shaft? Well Richard Hsu makes a fantastic shaft himself. No factory worker.

Brandon Jacoby of Jacoby cues make all their shafts here too (Nebraska).

I never get why people buy outside of America when we have the best builders in the world right in our own backyard. Pool cues are something Americans excel at and not outsourced. Where is the pride and representation of these fine cues that are being made here? We have very few industries that will still make our own and the cue building is something we still do.

Like you are a collector buying a US made cue from a Chinese collector and having it shipped to you in the United States? Billiard stuff, like almost everything from China is now subject to a 145% tariff. I would expect US customs to flag the shipment (of the inbound US cue) for the 145% duty and you would have to protest, and provide proof of US origin, so you wouldn't have to pay. The tariff applies to Chinese origin goods.

If this is an actual business deal, take my free advice for what it's worth (nothing) and consult a customers broker to handle the transaction.

Another great question. I will ask a few people here about this, as I know a lot of people who make their bread and butter buying and selling.

It's going to take awhile before Americans will get over it and perhaps even change our consumption. Those daily Amazon deliveries to my neighbors are shocking. I would hate to see what the inside of their home looks like.

Basically, if you can't afford to buy with a bit of uncertainty, then you shouldn't be buying in the first place. Tariffs should be your last worry, when you're buying cheap cues in the first place.
