It looks like Arizona is representing nicely at the Reno Open. Frost is still in the winners after beating Corey Deuel and Johnny Archer.
Jimmy Mendoza is kicking ass also. His scores are 9-2, 9-1, 9-2, and the 9-3 over Ismael Paez!!! Damn Jimmy way to show up.
Good work guys, and props to the other AZ locals that went up there and did your thing. Notably, Mike Sandoval, Dan Wallace, Ed Scott, Chuck Evans, Sue Wilbur, Frank Alvarez, and Bill Dunsmore.

I wouldn't be so sure about that, Piglit. Don't ever underestimate The Freezer.

I see two northwest boys, Atwell and Iverson, have to play each other on the B side. Potier is still in the winners, but young Vidas lost along the way.

Don't forget about Santos. I think he is the sleeper in this tournament, but again 9-Ball can put anyone to sleep if the balls don't cooperate on the break.

Mike D sound like a strong player .But i have never seen him play .How good does he play?Or did he gett ALL the rolls that week?
 
Hi piglet,

You would have been proud of Mike D. He not only took "freezer" apart but, he had John Schmidt literally pounding the table in frustration. It will be reported that Mike was handed each of his matches. Each of his opponents had a chance to beat him late. His opponents missed under the pressure.

This is not to say Mike was perfect. He made way, way too many errors. Against one at eight / seven, he ran down to the eight. Sent the cue ball to the side rail with only a foot of travel necessary to make the nine and came short! He tried to play safe but went way too long and gave up the point. In the final rack, he missed the two, it went in the "wrong" pocket and left him straight on the three. That is the way each of his matches went. When the chips were down, Mike played with the confidence I've not seen him display before. He did not change his style or his shot choice. I'm hoping this is the first of many titles!

One of the ref's commented after the finals that Mike is exactly what the mens sport needs. Quiet, clean cut and professional. Who knows?

It would be so great if Mike made the jump up to the next level! It would be even better if men's pool could ride its coat-tails (?)!

I am not going to let you people find out exactly good MIke plays for free- suffice it to say, we need a spot!!
