Arizona Desert Classic Tour (finals of Stop #2 video)

I'm glad you like the quality. We shelled out a good chunk of our own money for a camera to record the matches in hi-def. They look even better on dvd when played through a hi def or blu ray player. I think some of the quality gets lost in the conversion stage.

We will try to work on the angle problems. Maybe that's why i miss balls, my head must be a little crooked. I thought i had it mounted straight. Guess not. :)

You can't help but to loose quality when compressing. What you have out there is as good as I have seen for on-line video for the size file you have. Don't sweat the quality, it looks good as is.

What up guys? It's lil Scerca :) Nice work on the website, sweet vids and sound. Makes me miss home :( Hopefully you're going to DCC 09, if you are I'll see ya then :) Next time you see or talk to Bull please tell him I said hi and next time you see Pancake or my brother tell them I said they couldn't bank if they worked in a vault :)
Lil' Scerca, good to hear from you. Don't think i will make Derby this time, unfortunately. I will pass on the message to Jack and Jill (i mean Pancake) :)

I played Jack some banks about a month ago and let him off easy, be sure to remind him. I can't wait to see his straight pool game in a couple of weeks. I'll try to record one of his matches for the Chicago area folks to see.

Take care and come visit soon.

Video and audio look great. I really like video in the flash format. I will figure that out one day.

The crane we use is a Kessler Crane. I researched prosumer cranes for a couple of weeks and they provided the best solution for us. One of the best things we ever bought. We have the 8 foot model and altogether with tripod, head. monitor and all the other gear it was around $1500.

You guys look like you have it figured out, great job. If you have any questions about gear I might be able to help, I have spent a ton of time researching it. Good luck with the site.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to check into this. I'll PM you if i have any questions. BTW, you all had a great setup in Vegas. Keep up the good work!

I just put up the hotseat match from stop 2 (www.desertclassictour.com/videos.html). Unfortunately, the only two videos that I have converted from that tour stop contain the same contestants; Dennis Orender and Danny Smith. I have one more match from that stop, featuring Mitch Ellerman and I, that needs to be converted, but the commentary has issues, so Dennis and I are going to record over it, then I'll overlay that commentary onto the video and convert it to flash so it can be viewed on our site. I've never seen a "player review" video with commentary by the loser, so this will be a first. Forgive me if I get belligerent in the final game or two.

Thanks for the complements and the info. :)

I use a program called 'ffmpeg' to convert to flash (http://ffmpeg.mplayerhq.hu/). It's a pretty cool little program that recognizes like every video format known to man (maybe that's an exaggeration, but not much of one). It's a command-line program but, if that doesn't scare you off, it's an awesome little program.

One last thing:

I already mentioned this a few posts ago in this thread but, for those of you who might just be seeing this now and decide to check out the videos, you can view the videos in full-screen by clicking the little box-looking icon just to the right of the volume control on the video player.

J & D,

The website is great. Easy to navigate, clean and very professional. I really enjoyed the videos of the matches as well. I am very jealous of your tour, nothing like this in my part of Ohio (Dayton-ish). No wonder the Ohio boys moved down your way.

Great job!!

Thanks, we are glad you enjoyed them. What part of Dayton area specifically? I'm from Franklin/Springboro area.

Dennis,

I am from Middletown, now live in Carlisle which I am sure you are familiar with. Do you ever get back this way?? If so, I would love to meet you and hit a few games. Great job with the Arizona tour, your game is quite impressive.

Thanks for the compliment. We are just starting out with the tour, so hopefully, it will improve as time goes on. We have a lot of support from the players and room owners here in Arizona, which helps tremendously. I have to say, pool is a lot different in Arizona than in Ohio.

Is the pinball palace still open in carlisle? I heard it burnt down a few years back. That was my original stomping ground years and years ago.

All of my family members still reside in Franklin and i try to get back there when i can. I will PM you some info.
