AZPoolScene.com has returned. As many of you know, Ron Merseal, ran this website for the past 3+ years, and at the sametime owns Alexander's Sports Bar in Phoenix.

The work of maintaining the site got to be too much for him and his bar suffered. After doing whatever he could to keep Alexander's, a 25+ year old pool pillar of Phoenix, from shutting down, he has passed the reins onto myself.

I made some immediate changes, and will be doing plenty more in the coming weeks!

Tons of Arizona Players have looked to AZPoolScene over the past few years for great information of upcoming events, local news and random pool related information.

If you have any pool related articles, tournament announcements, etc. etc. that you think the readers would like, please email them to me at AZPoolScene@hotmail.com

Is he going to stream various local tournaments from this site then?
 
Yeah. Im embeding the video and chat to it so people can come straight to this site and not have to go to ustream and search for it. There will be other info and things as well

Thanks Brady! I'll be making changes throughout the next few months, but wanted to get it back up first.

Please let me know when the CoCoCowboy vs Bval is scheduled to go down. I bet Lenny could stream it and I could help promote it.

Yep the State tourney is in Payson. August 7th-10th. Singles and Teams. I know the order form needs to be turned in this week.

Our team won the Alexander's Wednesday In-house League last session! Knocking off the Cops N Robbers and the 2007 State Champs - 3 times.

Interesting. Isn't this how AZBillards started in the first place. Addressing the local AZ scene? Have they got so big they're neglecting their "home boys"?

You are right! But after AZ Billiards changed to "The A to Z of Billiards and Pool" there was a little section for Arizona News. Which was just a PDF version of the local newspaper "The Arizona Billiards News". Mike Howerton focused his energy on AZBilliards.com and passed that paper onto another individual. He ran it into the ground in a very short time, and now there are 2 papers in the area, competing with each other. The Arizona Billiards Info Newspaper and the Valley Billiards News. But for over the past 3 years AZPoolScene.com has been around, reporting local news, tournament results, upcoming events, creating an archive of information for the players. Also showing support for local pool players and establishments, all FREE of charge.

As you might have heard, there has always been a little territory grievance going on in the Valley. Some pool rooms got along while others remained divided. IMO this only hurts the players. With tournaments scheduled on the same days in the same city, and some places glorified in the news while others might make the 2nd to last page.

I took this website over mainly to provide an unbiased place for all Arizona Billiards and Pool information to be displayed. Also, I'm on the Arizona Ratings Committee (btw, we are not the GPARC, the Greater Phoenix Area Rating Committee) and we want to help to inform all areas of Arizona of the great accomplishments in Billiards.

Oh yeah, and I love pool, and want to do whatever I can to help it thrive in this dismal economy!

It does not appear that the defending state champions team "Numero Uno" will be fielding a team this year in Payson.:( :( :(

So you all now have a chance of winning this year...:rolleyes:

but you all can see who "would have won" by looking at who won last year....:wink:
