arkansas

Thanks, Randy.

maximillion. I live in Mountain Home, if that's convenient for you. If it's too far away, then I'd suggest a trip to Dallas to RandyG's pool school. Great program!

I shoot with Big Bob every week in Mountain Home. I'm jostlin' for some time with him soon and plan on hittin Dallas to see RandyG with part of my income tax refund.

Where are you at in Arkansas? Are you familiar with the APPA league?

Thanks Randy and Bob, I with definately get with you in the next few months.

Blue, I just joined at beezers last sat and played the 9 ball tourny.

Clay, I also played in the Beezer's tournament, along with Bob, Tony, Clyde, Wayne, Daniel.....all from the Mountain Home satellite.

I remember hearing them call out your name when they were seeding, but I'm guessing I never bumped into you.

Check your PM's.

Yep, I was there. Not making excuses (yes I am, but hell, I'm old... excuses are OK), but I've been putting up wall board and ceilings in my new shop for the past two weeks and when I got to Beezers on Sat., I was "sore as a boil". Couldn't stand up, couldn't sit down, had leg cramps... still, nailed 13th place. The match that put me out... well that was Monroe Jones, and he soundly beat me 7-3. I possibly should have won two games that I let get away, but still, he was shooting lights out and would have been hard to take down. Monroe is a solid 10 speed, master player... hard to beat him unless he screws up. I don't remember his making but ONE mistake during out match and that was one of the three games I won.

I really should have won the match that put me on the losers side, and that would have put me a few places higher, but considering how I felt, I'll take a 13-16 finish with 59 players. I missed a tough 9 ball shot, and moderate 7 ball shot and a really EASY 8 ball shot in that match and still made it a fairly close match. Just hard for me to focus when I'm hurting... that will NOT be the case from now on. Working on this building has made me realize that I am in HORRIBLE physical condition. Goal for the spring... get back down to my "fighting weight" and NOT get involved in doing anymore carpentry work! :)

Clay, if you'll go to my website for rod making, in my signature below, my cell phone number and email address are there, or you can PM me on here. Check your PM's... short message on there for you.

Beezers new diamonds

I lived in Arkansas before moving to Las Vegas a couple of years ago.
I played at Beezers in the APPA several times. What I was wondering is how those new Diamond tables are playing and how or if you guys(the players) like them or not. pros or cons? Wish they had a room like Beezers here in Vegas!!

thanks for any info

Gordon,
They play well... Typical of a Diamond, you can miss a corner shot and it will still go, but the side pockets can be wicked. I like them much better than the Olhausens that were in there. I do wish they were 9' tables, though. They're 8'ers, but different than any I've seen... they're about half way between a Standard 8' and an oversized 8'. Still, good tables, well kept and the lighting is fantastic!

I liked the diamonds a lot. The flet played much faster than the carpet like stuff I have on my olhausen, in fact I found a great deal on some used simonis at Jones and put it on my table the next day, much better now but still not as smooth as the diamonds. A 9ft diamond pro is my new dream table.
I used to want a connely ultimate and just found a good deal on one, but have decided on holding out for a diamond some day.

6, but some days I'm lucky to play as a 4, and others people wonder why I'm only a six, I'm looking to increase my consistancy.

I totally feel you on that. After I got warmed up, I shot like an 8 in the opening round. Then I proceeded to shoot like a 4 for the rest of the tournament (and afterwards). Very frustrating. If I could stay more consistent, I have no doubts that I could be a 6, if not a 7.

I'm EXTREMELY inconsistent. It's so frustrating.

Wow Arkansas on AZ

If you would like to take I road trip down to Dallas for Pool School I might be available depending on the timeframe. It's a great school and the best money I ever spent on my game.

And the diamond tables at beezers have pockets that are much more forgiving than the ones we play on at Krome in North Little Rock. But Beezers is the nicest pool room in Arkansas hands down. No smoke, no alchohol, no poker, just pool. Loved it last weekend!!
