Arnold Palmer better than Jackie Gleason?

Golf.com is doing a gallery of golfers playing other sports (LINK) and though they show Palmer bowling, the accompanying text has this:

... his favorite sports growing up were football and pool. How good was Palmer with a cue stick? He used to get the better of Jackie Gleason, a renowned pool player who did his own trick shots as Minnesota Fats in The Hustler. "I could beat [Gleason] at pool, golf, whatever," Palmer told Golf Magazine in 2010. "The only thing he could beat me at was drinking."

Thought it was an interesting tidbit to share...
 
very, 'cause Jackie was pretty darn good (hustler etc)....it is that "eye hand" coordination thing.
 
This is the first I have ever heard of that....wonder if its true, as Jackie was supposed to be a pretty solid player. To me i would think we would have known this in the pool circle if it were true, with as how famous and legendary Palmer is.

pretty cool. The whole thing was pretty interesting actually. Tiger is into ping-pong. Wouldn't have guessed that.
 
Understanding how a ball rolls when not hit squarely can be beneficial in both golf & pool.:wink:
