How is the playability with these cues, the craftmanship looks awsome, but curious as to how they play.

i have one of his break cues. the ball buster on his website.i picked it up used. breaks like a champ and easy to control the cueball.

Yeah, thats my feelings on Arnot...
I'd love to try a cue, but they just seem a bit too expensive... :(

bump, anyone else got any input

Arnot lives in Florida and makes a decent hitting cue. He may be better known for teaching upcoming cuemakers. The cues are popular in his area, however you will be hard pressed to sell one outside of Florida. Since you are surrounded by a ton of great cuemakers up there in Illinois, I would recommend looking closer to home.

You're on the right track...at least you aren't thinking about buying a Sterling! :)

Never played with one. Visiting the Arnot website, it seemed that he has some pretty fixed opinions about taper, tip, balance, etc. So, if a player buys one of his cues, it will be to Arnot's complete design. I'm not saying this is bad, just something the customer should be aware of.

I owned one for a rew months. It hit well, but I sold it to fund a Sw purchase. I purchased mine for 600 and sold it for under 500. My reccomendation would be to be patient and find one used to buy. You might take a hit when and if you decide to sell it. Arnot does offer a 3 day return policy on cues he has in stock, so you can try it out and return it if you dont like it.

Just a little info that I wish I had before buying a cue!!

His cues have my vote.....

I'm also a Floridian, Only thing to do Is play pool, Golf, Surf and Fish.
I have gotten the chance to use two of his cues. I like the hit, Keep inmind I have been using a Joss and Schon for the past few years.
I think he is still in Lakeworth? I'm going to see if he could make me a Sneaky Pete for my birthday.
Very rarely have I Found a used cue of his forsale.......

OW,
Who are the great cuemakers in illinois? I am not familiar with the ones around here. I know Cognoscenti is made in Chicago. Who else?

Actually, Joe Gold closed his Cognoscenti shop down in Chicago, and will be relocating in about a yr.

See if you can find a copy of the "Blue Book of Pool Cues". There are at least a dozen cuemakers in the Illinois area.

If I remember correctly Ed Young is up that that way?

Here are a few others from Illinois along with my star ratings next to the ones I'm familiar with:

Bill Howard Cues
Black Heart Custom Cues
Blackcreek Custom Cues *****
Cognoscenti Precision Billiard Instruments ***
Doug Patrick Custom Cues
Durbin Cues
Ed Young Custom Cues *******
Geppetto Custom Cues
Goldenrod Cues
Hercek Fine Billiard Cues ******
Hills Cues
Kennybuilt Cues
Mark R Bradley

Hope this helps...it's always better to buy from a local cuemaker! IMHO

Hi ,
I owned 2 Cues and a Break-Cue from Arnot and the Hit is very solid-hits like a Truck with the normal Shaft. I not like the Terminator Shaft. If you want a solid hitting Cue,buy.

Hi Poolplayer,
My Arnot's has regular Shafts but the Breakcue has a T3 Shaft and all is radial Pin,so I can change all Shafts and tested was is the best for me.
For Breaking is the T3 Shaft the best bit for playabily is the normal Shaft the best.
I hope this helps.

I've hit with a couple of his cues and I think they play very well...good solid hit. And his T3 shafts are lower deflecting than standard shafts, IMO. If you see one you like, go for it. You won't be disappointed. Plus, Arnie takes great pride in his work.

I suppose I might be over critical, but I have an Arnot jump/break and I would not recommend one. It plays fine, but for the price, there are much better values to be had.

I'm no longer a fan of custom cues these days, either. It seems to me that they all run a high cost for quality that is below that of some production cues...
