CHELMSFORD -- The room was as quiet as a library.
Spectators spoke in hushed tones as some of the best pool players from around the world circled their respective tables, lining up their shots.
Nashua resident Craig Sanossian, trailing six games to four in a best-of-10 match against Jeff White of Toronto, deftly sunk the 3-ball. As the cue ball rolled behind a stack of striped balls, Sanossian, a Lowell native, grimaced as if in pain.
"Tough roll," whispered his father, Gary Sanossian, who was knocked out the competition the night before.
The younger Sanossian could do nothing with his next shot, leaving White with the opening he needed, as he proceeded to run the table, finally pocketing the 8-ball.
"You can't make a mistake at this level," said Gary.
