As cue collectors......

As cue collectors, I'm sure we all like certain woods that we want in our cues. I like amboyna burl, cocobolo, and snakewood just to name a few.

I was thinking about this the other day and I don't know why we don't see it...How come furniture is not made out of all these exotic woods that go into cues?

I sure would love an amboyna burl dining table or a dresser that's made out of snakewood. A nice red cocobolo desk would sure be nicer than my current chessy Ikea desk.

Actually, I started learning about the kinds of woods used in pool cues about a year ago. Then, I looked at my parents dining room table...it's really nice cocobolo, like the stuff that has a dark reddish hue in it with lots of swirls. I was pretty amazed! It looks real similar to this Ed Prewitt on westerncue.com:

Yeah, it's funny, how you start to apprechiate woods all around you, when you're getting into cues :D

't was the same for me!

My brother is a fine furniture maker and while he hasn't gotten too heavy into expensive exotics yet, I'm sure he will as customers are paying for them... (hint hint)

Here's a few images!

they do, i have some, seen more and its brutaly expensive, in my office at home the wood work cost me over $700,000 for 2 rooms its burl walnut waynes coat, desk, floor, fireplace, bar, and 2 bathrooms-just the wood and desk nothing else, ther room was ready, sewer, power, lighting etc. Its 2 rooms the main office and conference room. It was stupid money but sisce I work at home I need a office that I can close deals in and the right image, I could have done it for $25-$30K and it would have looked great but I needed to to have it perfect because of the image I need for business. It will pay for itself soon, right now my house isnt completed and I wont be using it until end of the summer,

anyways i told that story just to give you an idea of how much it costs, the fit and finish is perfect, but the big money is the wood cost, man its expensive, on the 40" tall waynes coating they charge me $850/foot, so a 10'X10' room would cost $34,000 without the base board. and thats a tiny room, put in crown molding, a fire place wrap a couple poles, book cases and Poof there goes a million.

here is their website:

look around at the different rooms and you'll see

this gun room is probably $200,000:

it has taken me just over 18 months to get mine in, they are like custome cue makers and it takes forever because of the time between cuts on the wood,

lastly a door and frame from then is about $5000 solid walnut, they wuse alot of different woods they re on tht site if you look around, they did Dick Cabellas(the gun and hunting supply catalog guy) dick went for over $2,000,000 in his house just on the wood, they wanted $50,000 to build a bed for me.....I didnt buy it. So yeah its all out there. My friend had a jet he re-did the interior with ambroya wood he spent about 1.9 million-It wasnt a huge jet, I was in the shop where they made all the little wood peices and parts, it was amazing. Its amazing what is out there in this world when you have $$$, i'm not even close to those guys, but dont worry its avaliable if you win Power Ball TWICE, or find an oil well.

i wish these guys could do a billiard room in my house but i cant afford it, the box would be the cheapest thing in the room.

Ouch!

He's also a recording drummer in a very talented band. They're mastering album #3 right now.

He's leaving next week for 6 months to hike the Appalachian trail.

What a brother!

5500 is just a leg, try $40K. For just the one chair that I wouldn't dream of sitting in.

Yep, your only hope for getting anything in the will is if he decides to turn into a Communist Cross-Dressing Bank Robber. Then you can be the "good" son.
