Joke or not....Trudeau is still giving the sport of pool and the players and the fans a slap in the face with all of this. But, once a scheister ALWAYS a scheister. ;)

Are you KIDDING. Pick any IPT event that the players WERE paid, the payout from that one tournament is more than ALL of the UPA events for a year COMBINED. Even if the IPT goes under it has PAID more money and gotten more TV coverage for pool than ANY other organization in history.

Totally incorrect statement, but nice try. Matchroom Sports with the WPC has reached a far, far wider audience than all other Pool shows combined. In fact, the WPBA and Billiards International events on ESPN reach many more viewers than the IPT on Versus. It's not even remotely close.

And in terms of total prize money PAID, the IPT has not caught up to Matchroom or the WPBA yet. What the IPT did do was pay out more money in a single event than any prior Pool tournament. And owe more money than any other Pool tour as well, surpassing the PBT of the Don Mackey era. Dubious distinction at best.

I am speaking to TOTAL prize money paid in ONE calendar year. Top to bottom. ALL of the players, not just 1 - 5. The IPT LAST place is ABOUT 5 grand!! What is that in the WPBA? 5th MAYBE 6th?. The Hall of Famers got 30 Grand for the KOTH. Is there any one WPBA event that pays that for FIRST place?

Oh, so you think that building the players, fans, poolrooms and everyone else that has watched pool suffer over the years, up and then just not paying them for a tournament that some of them earned the biggest payday of the sport is ok? We should overlook the fact that reyes is probably screwed out of $500,000 (not to mention the other players) just because they did pay out a couple of the other tournies. Not to mention that the whole IPT "project" is probably dead and some of the players are out more than they won if you factor in travel expenses and such. You have to look at the affect that this may have in the future to the sport and on other sponsors that may have invested in a mens professional billiard tour.

Ooooooooops.
Missed one here too.
Its amazing how people attack me over the most silly things...................
All this because I still have a possitive outlook for the IPT.
Get a life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't see how anyone could fail to read the article as a joke.

And then we wonder why pool players can be conned so easily
by one such as KT........

DaveK...<<AP is most often on the recieving end of Press Releases. If they originate a PR it would most likely pertain to their business of running a news wire service.>>

For the record Dave, that is simply not correct. The Associated Press is NOT a "public relations" firm. It is a NEWS AGENCY with 242 total bureaus worldwide and 3,700 AP editorial, communications and administrative employees worldwide.
Jim

Is the UPI still in existence?

Back in the old teletype days those were the two news services where everyone got the news.

Not everyone .... just everyone in the US. In Europe Reuters was the only news service back then (they started up in 1851). They're still going today of course.

Dave K...<<Hey Jim, read what I wrote a little more slowly this time.>>
Hi Dave. Yep, slowing down was the key. Sorry that I misinterpreted your post. My bad.
