Who can get me some info on the places worth a visit to play in Atlanta (or avoid LOL), either around the city or south of it? Any tournaments Wed, Thursday or Friday nights anyone know of there?

I may have to make an emergency business trip to McDonough GA to fix something at a new store build, 20 miles south of Atlanta, likely leaving Wed early AM. I know Archer had a pool hall by there in Marietta but I think it shut down a bit ago.

No idea.

If you decide to go into down town Atlanta to look around The Varsity is worth a visit unless there is a Georgia Tech game around the time you want to go.

Not a poolhall, but Mehans pub is nice.
Liverpool FC fans as well. Ha ha.

The Aquarium is awesome.
There be whale sharks!

I have played here several times. They have two snooker tables, which I usually play on. Not sure about gambling. They also have a bunch of 9' gold crowns.
I lost $18,000 last time I played in there about 9 years ago.

It’s a good room.

I went there, but unfortunately forgot my cue at the hotel since it was not an expected drive up that way. I had to drive to Duluth to pick up a cable at a computer store. Was packed full on a Wed, not a single free house cue in the place, the 6 or so that were on the walls had no tips. Never got a chance to play there. They did not even have a back room stash of cues. I was actually even looking to buy some cheaper cue to use but they had nothing under $100 there, some places have like $50 Action sneakies but not this place. A good selection of cues though, plenty of 300-800 cues which you don't see much anymore at pool halls.

I ended up at a place called Sticks which was a very pleasant surprise. They have a 10 foot Diamond there! Granted it needs some new cloth but still played well. Also several other 9 footers that looked very well setup. I was there for almost 2 hours, got a beer and the total was a whole 8 bucks.

I only have one more night in the area, and am going to go back to Sticks.

Going to check it out, thanks. Looks like they have several locations, including two in the airport.

I have a feeling that they are not the same as the original location. I probably ate at the Varsity 100 times (OK, maybe not 100, but I did eat there a lot), when I was at GT. You don't really go there for the food. You go for the atmosphere. It's just a different kind of drive-in (and walk-in) burger/dog joint. Almost circus like. At least, that's the way it was 45 years ago. The food is just something to make a turd.

Edit: BTW, Nipsey Russell was a car hop (#46) there. The car hops were part of the show.

Found a place called Sticks that I went to both nights I was there. They have a 10 foot Diamond, was fun shooting on that. Several other nicely setup tables. Even ran into a guy there from NH that I played with for a bit.
