There's also the other Pool Room in Marietta (up I-75 north of I-285 a little ways).

If you're looking for something more in-town-y, and don't mind 8-footers, there's a good little joint called The Independent in Midtown. My old haunt for many years before a) I moved away and b) it changed hands. I've been there a few times since and little has changed.

Depending on where you want to go in Atlanta there are many places to go. Wether you want a nice place where you could wear a suit without anyone noticing or if you prefer a place where you are issued a switchblade knife if you don't already have your own.

On a group I created on Myspace I have some links to various pool halls with sites. I even wrote of some reviews of some that I have been too. They are linked next to the pool hall links.

Here is a link - Georgia Billiards

Somewhere on here I wrote a basic run down of all the pool halls in Atlanta. I tried finding it on the search but mine was messing up.

You should come by The Pool Room in Marietta GA.

40 - 9" ft tables. (Olhausens, Gold Crowns) One of the most astonishing rooms you will ever visit! Pro Darts, Pro Foosball, and much more! We have weekly tournaments on:

Monday 7:30 pm 8-ball $15
Saturday 3:30 pm 8-ball $15
Sunday 4:00 pm 9-ball $15

Great food and great staff.

1355 Roswell Rd. Ste.210
Marietta GA 30062

If you prefer you can head up to our sister location up in Duluth right next to the Gwinnett Mall off of Pleasant Hill exit on I-85.

Where in Midtown is...

The Independent is behind the new Trader Vics off Morland about 3 blocks from Ponce, above Apres Diem and the movie theaters. It is basically a bar with about 8 9 foots, in so so condition and slow cloth. Better for a date than any serious action. There is also Twains in Decature, which is also not for serious action but has really good food and is non smoking.

I'da swore the eight tables at the Independent were 8-footers... meh, I could be wrong. :P

BTW it's Monroe, not Moreland. :D

No there 9 footers but they are deceptive cause of the make and they seem slim? I played APA out of there for two seasons recently.

I always mix up Monroe, Moreland and Memorial!

The independent has 8 9' Gandy furniture style tables. I know this because I refelted all of them not to long ago. 7 tables are in slow cloth while 1 is in Brunswick Centenial.

There is some action at the Indy. I know of some good players there. And many who gamble just to gamble. I'm not sure if it is still or is going to be smoking when you get there. I know Dekalb County had a vote on a smoking ban and I'm unsure if it passed or not.

I try to play there Thursdays when I can for a free tournament they have. Good players and it doesn't cost a thing. But when you get here in December I'll be pulling 18-20 hour days moving pool tables.

Here is the basic rundown of pool halls I have been to in GA from another post...

The Pool Room in Marietta is by far the biggest. There is smoking. They have some Gandy Big Gs which last time I saw them looked kind of rough. Some GCIV blacks that looked great. Olhousens Grand Champions where there also. I've heard that it has some of the best action besides Cues2

Mr. Cues 2 is where you go if you want to find some of the best players in the state.

The Pool Room in Duluth is where I go the most except on league nights where I go to Cues 2. The Duluth room is no-smoking but can serve alcohol on Sunday unlike the Pool Room in Marietta.

English Billiards off of 141 in North fulton is a decent place. They have 10 tables. 8 8ft AE Schmidts and 2 9ft AESchmidts. Last time I went there the tables where in poor condition. Great little place if they just kept their tables up. You could wear a suit there and not stick out. It's near a rich area so if you are looking for women who have been knifed more than Liberachy in Compton then this is the place to go.

Sweetwater Bar and Grill in Duluth is a decent place. I believe they have ABC tables with slow cloth. But they do have a decent bit of tables if I remember correctly. Unfortunately last time I went there I dont really recall much. It is a good place for music if you prefer bands who sing songs such as "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!" and "Uuuuuuuuuuugh I hate my mooooooooooooooooooooom!!!"

The Independent (Formally Duprees) in Midtown is a decent place also. They have 8 9ft Gandys. 7 of them are in slow cloth and 1 of them in Brunswick Centenial. I know many of the players there and they do have some decent players come out. I'm guessing some of the Cues2 crowd goes there when they don't feel like fighting Atlanta traffic

Barleys off of Peachtree Industrial and Pleasent hill is also an alright pool hall. I refelted one of their tables there but last time I went there it didn't look like they have changed it since I did. They do have 8 Diamond Pro8s in there. 1 side smoking the other not

International Bowl off of Buford highway and I-285 is a place not to go. They have Diamond tables but are nowhere near level and have slow cloth. Not to mention you are shooting less than 60" from the other table. Don't forget to bring a switch blade and a Glock.

Brass Rails in Athens is also a good place to go. It's not as nice as when Pop's owned it but a decent place for Athens. I know they have GCIVs and 8' Medalists.

I haven't been to Twains yet but plan to go sometime. I'll be by myself so hopefully it isn't a rough place.

And as the locals would say "Welcome to Atlanta where the (Pool) Players Play".
