My mentor, Jack White, has suffered a terrible setback recently. His wife, Mollie, had a major stroke over a month ago, while they were on the road. She is paralyzed on her right side, and unable to talk, although she is in rehabilitation. She may or may not make it, and I'm asking anyone who knows Jack and Mollie, to please send a card. Her doctor suggested that getting as many cards as possible may help in her possible recovery. Please send any cards to: Mollie White, Room 209, HealthSouth, 3 Western Hills Dr., Parkersburg, WVA 26105. Any prayers for her recovery are also very welcome!

Thanks...

I've never met Jack or Mollie but any friends of yours are friends of mine. I'll hold thoughts for her recovery and for Jack's strength during this difficult time in a special place.

Stay well my friend!

I saw Jack perform at Adams State College on my birthday one year. I remember he said if he didn't run out a certain set up, he would buy me a bike. He didn't run it out, tried three times and never made it....and I never got my bike! :D

He is a great performer and entertainer and my thoughts are with him and his wife during this difficult time.

This is indeed sad news as I have fond memories of Jack's shows from my college years. I will pray for his wife's recovery & enclose a card to them both as soon as possible.

Scott, I am very sorry to hear that. I have never met either Jack or his wife but I know how you value their friendship just from hearing about them from you. A card will go out Monday.

PS: Hope to see you the next time yoiu are in So. Calif

Scott even though I have never met Jack or his wife I know how much you have valued their friendship over the years just from hearing your comments about them. A card will go out Monday.

RC...I met Jack for the first time, while I was a student at your rival school, Western State, in 1971. He played there for 25 straight years! :D

I actually went to Colorado School of Mines, so it was still a rival school :) but I grew up in Alamosa and my stepdad was a prof at Adams State.

I heard they took the weather station out of gunnison because they couldn't get students to go to school there when it was always the coldest spot in the nation. :D No wonder y'all hung out at the pool hall.

Edit -- But I see you moved to Bozeman, which is also a nice 4-season town :D

Cheers,
RC

Sorry to hear about Jack's wife, I'll drop him a card. Who knows he may remember me. I believe I breifly told you a short story about Jack. I met him about 64 or 65 and played with him in a couple of exibitions in Colo Springs. Not sure when he started doing exibitions but that's been over 40 years!!! Wow, where has the time went? LOL

Thanks Rod, Charlie, Randy, and everyone else, for your cards, thoughts and prayers. Jack & Mollie have been traveling the country (and world) doing exhibitions (and giving back to the game) for the past 47 years! In fact, it was Mollie who got Jack his very first gig, way back in 1958, at UCLA...when they were booking Mosconi every year. They loved him so much, they immediately gave him a contract for the next year...and then a 20-yr. contract after that. He was there all during the Johnny Wooten years, and very popular with the BB and Football teams! Jack had 20+-yr runs at many, many colleges and universities all over the country. I don't know if Jack will finally retire, now that Mollie won't be able to travel with him any more, or not. He has never known anythiing else, other than playing pool. I'm proud to have the opportunity to follow in his footsteps!
