I just moved to Austin from Chicago and am looking for a great pool hall in the area. I Have no interest in coming in swinging (gambling) right away, I havent played in over a year. Looking forward to getting back into it, and looking for some players to meet. Let me know if you know anywhere thats top notch (I.E. not a rich college kid hang out where i dont have to pay $10 an hour to shoot as I will probably average over 40hrs a week there.)

check out The Grand , its a ver nice place i think its set off an old movie theater ive been there once for a tournament ,or shenanigans , jus my 2 cents:)
 
Slick Willies on So Lamar has FREE pool on Monday Night 7-close.
WareHouse on Ben White Blvd near I35 So has afternoon rate of $3.00 for hours between 11:00AM and 4:00 PM (note: not per hour rates--$3.00 for up to 5 hours).
 
The Warehouse Saloon and Billiards

Check out the Monday night 8PM sharp tournament. It's $5 and alternates week to week 8ball to 9ball. Mostly lower level players but good place to meet and shoot cheap.Weekday rates noon till 4pm are just $3.

awesome will definetly check them out! Is this click billiards I see on N Lamar and on Oltorf any good? I made the mistake of going into buffalo billiards when i first got here..... never again!
 
Welcome to Austin. I think you will find we have a pretty good pool scene here. Skinny Bob's on Round Rock has the best tables imo. 9-footers with simonis. The Texas Open is held there every Labor day weekend. Free pool on Mondays as well.
 
I'll look you up when I'm there in two weeks. I always play at Slick Willies on Lamar but, someone said they sold and renamed it. I like Clicks on the other side of the river off I-35. I'm going to Skinny Bobs this time around, I've heard nothing but great things about that place. You have Fast Eddies way up north on I-35 also. The Grand is nice also. I wasn't a big fan of Buffalo Billiards either. Went there for SXSW. I'll be there in two weeks and then back there in 6 weeks, I'll look you up.

Yea alot of players play out of Clicks on Oltorf. If you want action I am sure you can get some there too.
 
If you want to get back into shooting and have a lot of time, you should go to Clixx on North Lamar (if I remember right).
They have a $5 flat rate from 11am till 7pm, drinks are reasonably cheap too and they have 2 nine footers, with one that has very cruel *****y pockets and great cloth on all tables...
I always found someone to shoot also...

I have not been to Austin for quiete some time now though, so it might have changed a bit...

Also Slick Willies on Bowers (or so) Street in the north west part of Austin is a good place, if you want it a bit more busy...
