I have been playing a lot of 10-Ball recently and I was wondering if anyone would be intersted in a 10-Ball challenge here on AZ, making it similar to the other challenges that have been done in the past.
How does this sound?
Each object ball pocketed counts as 1 point.
Pocketing a 10 ball counts as 2 points.
Any balls pocketed on a scratch do not get counted.
Any balls pocketed on a scratch break do not count.
You have the option of taking ball in hand after the break but must deduct 2 points from your rack total if you do so. This includes a scratch on the break or hitting the cue ball off the table.
Since you may not have a decent shot and may not want to attempt a Hail Mary Hit and Hope shot, Succesful safties will be awarded 2 points. However, safeties can only be played when you do not have a shot on the next object ball. (Ex. you leave yourself long on the 10 ball and it is makable, but easier to play a safety leaving the 10 ball frozen to the rail and the cue ball frozen to the opposite rail, you must play the shot rather then the saftey to get the 2 points. Same goes for any other shot in the rack.) If the saftey is unsuccessful (meaning the opponent can make the object ball without banking or kicking it) The 2 points are not awarded.
If you elect to play a safety, the rack is over after the shot is attempted (unless an object ball is pocketed pertaining to standard 10 ball rules)
Each rack can be worth up to 11 points. Totalling 55 points in a set. 110 points for the entire Challenge. Post each rack's scores and note whether you had to play a safety or not in each rack. and give the totals of points and safties played for each set and full challenge. See example below.
[example]
Set 1
Rack 1.... 8
Rack 2.... 7
Rack 3.... 5 (Safety)
Rack 4.... 11
Rack 5.... 5 (Safety)
36 points 2 safeties played.
Set 2
Rack 1.... 1
Rack 2.... 11
Rack 3.... 6 (safety)
Rack 4.... 7
Rack 5.... 8
42 points 1 safety played.
TOTAL: 78 points 3 Safeties

Let's try to make this a 2 week challenge and have it start on Monday March 27th and end on Monday April 10th. Provided there is interest of course.
