AZB room at DCC - closed to new players

Just a note in response to a number of last minute requests today for playing privileges in the AZB room. I want to emphasize that we are not accepting more players for the AZB room. Nobody is trying to be a control freak; please remember that almost all of our costs are up front. Also remember that those who are organizing want to have everything done BEFORE DCC so that they also can enjoy the week. No one volunteered to ignore the tournament and do accounting, collections, & loan sharking for the week. This info has been posted for many weeks; last minute shoppers often lose out.

If you've already made arrangements with me, then this does not apply to you. Those who show up and have a players badge are IN; those without a players badge can get a "Railbird" badge so that they can socialize and spectate (but not play).

If you think there has been a mistake (like my wife stole your check and used it to go to the spa), then let me know or track me down at DCC and we'll try to fix the situation - don't hit, shoot, or stab anyone - we'll fix it.

I'm not mad, upset, or even venting. I just want to post this to remind people that I am NOT at DCC (I'm home at my day job), and I'll not be at DCC until Wednesday. When I am there I will be spectating and playing (though I will run the Thursday and Friday 11:30 PM events).

I have had more than 10 PM requests for money collecting, money lending, transportation to and from the airport, to relay messages to a friend, last minute additions to the players list. I've had players say, "put me on the players list, and then find me to get the money."

As above, the players list is closed. We could find no volunteers to serve as collections men, accountants, personal valets, or loan officers. We set it up so it basically runs itself, so that EVERYONE can enjoy the tournament (even the organizers). The only way that could happen is if everything is taken care of IN ADVANCE (which it was).

My sincerest apologies to those who are left out as a result. It is just more incentive for you to mail your donations in ahead of time as requested (or to volunteer to spend the whole tournament running around collecting money, and doing the banking if thats what you would like to do next year - I think you will find that the DCC has a tremendous amount to offer, and you will be uninterested in spending your time in such a fashion).
