AZB'ers Metting Up!

The rec.sport.billiard USENET forum have had over a dozen get-togethers. Usually, we have a tournament. There have been RSB tournaments in several different states as well as a half-dozen of what has been called the Great White North (GWN) tournament, held in Toronto.

The CCBoarders have been getting together annually at the US Open 9-ball tournament.

Several of us see each other yearly at the BCA Nationals in Las Vegas in May and/or the SuperBilliardsExpo in Valley Forge in March.

I think I've met over a hundred internet posters, many of them post here at AZBilliards as well as the other forums.

Simply put, the first pool poster I met was Kato from CCB...since then I have met dozens of posters from all pool forums. Recently at Valley Forge I had several people come up to me at the booth and introduce themselves with their poster names...over half of them all stated that they were lurkers. The net has been a great tool of information but more important a vehicle to hook people up that would normally never speak because of the love for the game...pretty special if ya ask me.

Voodoo~~was even lucky 'nuff to meet Jimbo and break bread with him :p

I'm curious how many people on this board met here and later met up in real life. I've seen recently there were quite a few who got together and met for the first time.

How about some other stories and pics.

I recently met up with Roel (see pic) who was here (In Shanghai) on business.
We played some pool, drank some beer and I kept him up way past his bed time. A great time was had. Basically the same thing as what I did with 'The One' about 2 months ago when he passed through town.

Roel plays a good game, with one of those crazy loopy philippino cue actions. He didn't tear me a new one, like 'The One' did, but it was getting hard to take games off him by around 3am. I didn't make him drink enough  :p

Anyway, it's cool that guys from here come halfway around the world and catch up with me. It's a small world :D

Hey Colin! Cool... I feel a little more famous now having my picture up on the site.... Just got back last thursday night and trying to recover from Jet Lag.... I played some pool yesterday and my pocketing ability was a bit better. I guess playing snooker while in China helped me out some (I found several snooker tables in the D-Mall next to shanghai museum)

Oh, that's a bit too cryptic for me! :p

Anyway, getting a ho is a tough process. When you exit the bar, you'll have the task job of trying to sort the selected target from the 10 other girls clutching at your arms, legs and other parts.

Then it's negotiation time, which could range from US$12 -$50.

Then, keep your eye, or better yet a hand on your wallet.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...... The stories I could tell!!!!!!! :P

Hey Buddy,
Glad to see you found the thread, along with your new found fame :D

So how did you find snooker? It certainly makes you start staring at the balls a little harder eh?
