Makes me appreciate the hell out of ESPN and the talent and world class sports coverage they bring (ironically it is the pool coverage that is so hopelessly bubble gum). For the love of all that is holy, can we please have a billiard/cue sport network, where we don't have to have crappy streaming internet video. I mean yeah, I guess I can appreciate what these guys are trying to do with the free (sometimes) live match-up coverage. However, black and white tv looked pretty good too, until color television was available.
I guess I just want to have what other sport fans have. Live professional network coverage of events.

I agree also,it would be nice but its about money,no one is willing to really invest in our sport.TAR does an excellent job,even the IPT with the money they have in producing their live stream does well but still will have issues as its live and over the internet.It would be nice if there was a Billiards channel like there is golf but there are big sponsors and money in golf,pool seems to be unable to attract them.

I am sorry to say but tv wont open its arms and really embrace pool and it might never happen so the future is on the net but then again it wont be so bad when someone has money behind them for equipment and production similar to the IPT and will go to all the events to bring it to the masses.Suppose TAR had the IPTs crew, equipment and production,that would be great right?,well perhaps as long as people will buy the feed.If your rich and can just do it for the love of the game then great but most people doing it are not and they have to make a few bucks to recoup alittle bit of what they have in it.With the economy the way it is people arent doing too much recreational things like they used to and along with criminal gas prices,in the end everyone gets hurt in the middle class. :(
 
Things like AZBTV and TAR and Eclipse/Lenny who are doing grassroots stuff make me appreciate these people even more and hate ESPN for the way they have destroyed pool in the USA.

The ONLY time ESPN ever carried a live match was when BCTV (yes they are still around) did ALL the production and ESPN got the feed.

The thing is that people have tried to do a billiard channel with professional production but the fans won't support it.

On a value basis the stuff that BCTV did was better than just about any other kind of PPV around and there just wasn't enough people to support it.

TAR is deifnitely not making a profit and probably not even breaking even considering the hours they put in and the investment.

But it is these people and NOT ESPN that is the future of broadcast pool. They will get better and better and will eventually have the type of product that they can sell to the networks and get pool shown as it should be shown.

But even that isn't easy - BCTV and Accustats productions there is no question that the production value is professional and sophistacated and no one but local sports cable outlets has picked any of those up.

It is my opinion that TAR and those like them will lead us into a future where dependence on the "networks" will be a thing of the past. Pool will be live in high quality and all matches will be archived for instant delivery anytime. Audience size will happen virally and sustained through better and better shows.

Well said as always John.I really believe this is the future and a few older guys i spoke with were really interested in the live streaming which suprised me and a few people even said its great for pool and the future of it.I do think TAR will get to a great level but as you said they probably arent breaking even which is a shame considering how much they care for the game,players and us fans.I wish Trudeau would give TAR his equipment,they could put it to better use. :D
 
I totally agree with everything you guys have said. And I wasn't saying I want ESPN to do the broadcast. I can't stand the coverage ESPN brings to pool. Ive pointed out the reasons in other posts and threads. Clapping after every shot...need I say more?
I was thinking more of a global network of billiard cue sports. That is why I didn't say a pool channel. I mean with snooker, 3-cushion, russian billiards, all the world championships held in different parts of the world, you would think that having a billiard network wouldn't be asking for that much. Or atleast have a network that picks these events up. I know realisitically, what I want, and what pool/cue fans deserve, won't happen in my lifetime. And im 27. God bless TAR and what they are attempting to do. Who knows, a TAR network? And I throughly enjoyed watching, Strickland play and tell great stories as well as watching Scott Frost V. Efren. So with that, I will just support TAR and I guess we will all have to go along for the ride until what we have becomes huge, or someone with seriously deep pockets gets something serious together.

Im glad you enjoyed Strickland,Reyes and Frost and i was happy to bring it to you and other fans regardless of some of the internet connectivity problems i had in the beginning,thanks to Carlos for fixing that issue. ;)

I've been searching for a billiards channel, and teh only one I found was on some internet satelite thing, and it just showed re-runs of German 3c billiards events. That was fun for a few days.:rolleyes:

I'd like to see an internet stream with an assortment of different games just running 24/7. Might make sense coming from Accu-stats. Just play assorted matches, and charge a monthly, or yearly fee, and move into PPV down the road. I"d try it from home here, but I don't know if it's legal to show full length matches like that?

Thanks alot and I am glad you enjoyed it.I also will like to see a 24/7 stream thats archived,it would be cool if you could pay a membership for say a year and view accustats online,just click and play whatever they have and they do have alot of stuff,someone call Pat. ;)
