Back in time to the 1 piece cues !

Having played pool and 3c for over 60 years, I definitely want to regress a bit while my sun still shines. Started with the good ol house cues and actually used the 1 piece including at the bar boxes for many years. After quite a few recent years with numerous 2 piece war clubs, some very satisfactory, I definitely want to finish my career stroking with a very good 1 piece FOR SURE. My research has come up with quite a few brand names - of course all touted by the sponsers HMMMM. Some seem to be to cheap and some seem to be to expensive. I'm a lite touch - kinda wristy stroker. Do very well and need no more expiriments on that end. 20 oz x 12 mm tip is pretty much my spec. Thank you in advance for quality input and suggestions about your thoughts / experiences with available cues. Big Big costs are out of my budget considerations.

I think you missed the question part of your post.

What are you looking for input on? One piece cues for 3 Cushion? 12 mm is pretty thin for a 3C, although I don't have a lot of experience with that, I don't think I've seen any 3C cues with thin shafts.

You have to start with a decent cue but you almost always need to modify the cue to your own liking. It is hard to just play with a cue right off the rack.

As you remember years ago pool rooms often had locking racks where you could put a selected cue just for your own use. They sometimes kept private cues behind the counter you got with your tray of balls.

They didn't always do this for everyone and it meant you had achieved some status with a private cue. Surprisingly not that many actually had two piece cues back then. If I went somewhere else to play I may stop by the pool room to get my one piece cue.

Then of course I got my first two piece, a Brunswick Willie Hoppe and didn't use the one piece much any more. Thanks for bringing back that memory.

Thanks guys. I was one who did have my own private cue at numerous rooms and bars Way back when - Also a house cue man who tended them whenever - very reasonable and a dedicated craftsman indeed. Numerous 3c shooters retaper a conic shaft for the last 6" +/- down to smaller dia tips. Works well.

Just a little FYI. I play a little 3 cushion and us a 11.75mm. The best 3 cushion player in my room uses what looks like a 9mm. Possibly smaller than that.

Hm, I guess my memory is not right about this, looks like the Willie Hoppe WH-3 3 cushion billiard cue comes with a 12mm tip standard.

Maybe I'm thinking of the artistic 3 cushion stuff where they use the fatter masse cues.

You might see if you can find a one piece Cuetec cue that meets your needs. I like the ones I have hit with and I have six for house cues.

wood moves

.

Just exactly is your budget ? Because there is no sense about talking about what a cue maker can make if its not worth even warming up his lathes.

You want a custom 1 piece ?
Or you want a some what straight bar cue cleaned up to your spec's ?

is it wood ?

Is the Cuetec wood with a sticker wrapped around the shaft and fiber glass resin over it like the sst shafts ?

I have owned a couple of Cuetec cues both with the sst shafts . damn stiff hit IMO

Shows the quality of wood and finish - dimensions exact and no wrap for sure. Up to $200 possibly a bit more.
