Back pain

There was a post a few days ago about back pain. I just remembered something else as far as a treatment. Normally after driving for twenty two hours I would be laid up for a week. But when I was in Port Angeles last week I had a massage. A usual effect would be some relief for a couple of hours, a few days at the most. This woman had an unusual way of attacking knots in my back. Normal routine of warming up the muscles but then she had me make a fist and had me lift it in different directions while she worked the muscle until the knots broke loose. It's been five days and this is the best I have felt in eight years. Another effective treatment I have had for long term chronic back pain is Botox. Freezes the nerves so they cannot irritate the muscles. Part of my problem has been recurring back spasms from the nerves irritating the muscle and then the muscle irritating the nerve and then.......Botox breaks the cycle. I am having another treatment next month. In nine years I have had about seven to ten shots. Works for three to six months. Pain clinics are where you need to go for long term problems. Dont forget acupunture either. Regular doctors only know how to treat back pain with drugs and that doesn't work for long term solutions. OK now get up and stretch.

Great subject for the older players, even Efren is dealing with this as per his reason for not going to DCC. When I started playing again a couple of years ago I would go home with a sore neck and shoulders. I just hit it with the regular old man creams out there and it worked. As I got more into getting into a good stance with my head close to the cue I got over the head and shoulder pain. Now after two years of working on a come back I am dealing with more back pain. I started doing sit ups and leg lifts to help but even with that I have times where I go to get up from a shot and my back pain just about buckles my knees.

Thanks for the ideas,
