I had planned on posting this to the "whats in your case" thread...then changed my mind....Wanted to get your thoughts.......

Just the other night night I decided to take a quick trip to a pool room close by. i had my cues out for a little work..cleaning...tip shaping etc.... i was struck with urge to go shoot. I didn't feel like packing everything up and carrying my normal 2x4. the next closest thing was my old hard latch top 1x1 black case....just like the Kmart one we all know...diffrerence being is that this one was made for a snooker cue as it was a bit longer than normal....just perfect to fit the cue two cubes of chalk and a small piece of sandpaper for the tip scuffing.....
I had a wonderful night of shooting...didn't really miss anything that I left at home.

Traveling that light got me to thinking....
we have gotten carried away with all of the junk.....
gloves, ipods, jump cues, break cues, spare shafts, elbow pads..(at least in earls case anyway).
I actually know a guy who has a 9 ball cue, 8 ball cue,14.1 cue, break cue, and a jump cue... plus extra shafts!!!!!!.....sooner or later people are gonna need a caddy just to go play pool....

shane
think I might stick with the old kmart case for a minute....

Amen to that. Travel light. I posted in the "what's in your case" thread. But for ease, I'll put it in here too. I carry It's George and sandpaper in my pocket wherever I go just in case I need to play off the wall. My heavy duty case is an action 2x2 in which I keep my mcdermott, an extra shaft and my jump stick. No tools, candy, or ipods. Why do I need to carry all my burnishers and extra tips? I don't plan on working on my cue in the middle of a match.

What's the story with that elbow pad? I saw him wearing it when he played Rob Saez in the Florida State finals.

Anyways. I carry my playing cue (only one shaft) and my J/B cue with maybe a couple of accessories to clean my shaft or scuff my tip. I think about getting a bigger case to maybe toss in an extra shaft but I never follow through on it.

Simple is better. Pool is not an gadget/accessory intensive game. Playing conditions are consistent and there's no real need for that many cues (8ball and 9ball cues?!) unless you're maybe a trick shot artist.

A nice little 1x2 with no pockets, sleek, easy to carry. It's a nice way to travel from time to time.

I've been wondering about that elbow pad too. My guess is that is where he hides the Prozak patch.

I don't think all of this stuff is necassarily a bad thing. It's a lot of money spent but if it makes you happy, do it.

Personally I travel fairly light, playing cue and a break cue with a cloth and a couple of tools to maintain my tip.
