Baffling Brunswick

That may have actually been a repair of a broken or warped forearm.

EDIT: Went to my PC for a better look. I think it's a repair, the butterfly joint is a repair not a "feature". And the glue is failing on the repair, suggesting it's a very old repair.

And half-assed refinishing just made it worse. Certainly not the "grail" the seller is claiming.

Seller says it's maple and oak at the butterfly. It's maple and maple. I don't think they know what they are talking about, or they are just blowing smoke to sell it.

I asked that seller about details of the three piece cue they have for sale a while back, didn't get a good response.

I think it’s an after-market addition to a cue that was warped or broken
Aftermarket, or maybe Brunswick repair. I heard years ago that Brunswick did repair cues by butterfly splicing.

Anyway, I agree it is a repair. And long before that crap refinish.

I posted that before I read your post….we’re on the same page…although I learn more from your posts than you can learn from mine. 😎

I'm just a blind squirrel occasionally finding a nut. LOL!

not worth dealing with. and with a cracked joint and the abalone insert gone it also in poor condition has little value for a collector that knows what is good.

all the old willie hoppe and brunswick type of that stick are best used for conversions to players, not for show as they were never a high end cue to begin with. just nostalgic..
as well as the butts were mostly too fat for the modern era of players.
