i see some cue specs with balance points so many inches in front of the wrap
some say so many inches from the butt

assuming a 58 inch cue where is "foward balance"

what difference is there between more foward or not balance point??
is it all personal preference??

balance

It must be a personal thing. It is with me.
I read something from a Willie Mosconi how to play book. He said to hold the cue 3-5 inches behind the balance. That's a lot of room for error. Must be a flexible thing I would think. Of course he's only one player.

The cue ball has no idea where you are holding the cue stick, or even if you're holding it at all. It does know where you hit it and in what direction.

What I think is more important than the precise balance point, is the place of holding the cue is a nodal point, not a anti nodal point.
