I"ve posted this pic before quite a while back and in case anyone missed it, I personally think it's a helpful solution for those without a lot of money to spend.
You can make it for the price of a 10" orbital buffer (about 25 bucks) and your regular old run of the mill oil change bucket for 4 bucks at Pep Boys.
Glue some old carpet to the inside of the bucket, throw the balls in, squirt it with your personal choice of polish, ( I use Meguiar's Plastix motorcycle windshield cleaner http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/product_detail.asp?T1=MEG+G12310 Pep Boys also) and hold the buffer over the balls for a few seconds. Done.
