Ball in hand league question

Is this the same Pocket Point that was banned some time ago?

He already said that the remaining balls were an easy run. so why wouldn't he take them. Dont see a reason to be sarcastic about the guy playing 25 years.

To the OP i see you re just down the road from me. 1/2 or so, we should get together and shoot some I am always looking for new people to shoot with. anyways welcome.

I notice a glaring problem in your story, while all the others have missed it. Their minds are not tuned into the game like mine is. Follow what I say and you will go far.

You have been playing this game for 25 years, yet you selected the solid grouping simply because there were "already 2 down." This level of ignorance is what I work to remove from our sacred game.

The correct answer is to select the grouping that yields the greatest odds of winning the game. If someone has played this game for 25 years and has still not yet come to this conclusion, what does that say for ourselves? How could this happen?

I have an idea why.

Read the whole thread, PP. At 7:49 this morning, almost an hour-and-a-half before your post, he states (in post #13) that "the way the table layed the solids were a pretty easy run out at that point".

In 8-ball, if both groupings are spread apart well, then the determining factor will be which grouping provides an easier key ball for the 8-ball. This is the only answer to the question. It is the only way to go. It is our game. It is the way it is played. If this manner of thought does not cross the mind of a player, then he simply has not bothered to learn the game.

In 8-ball, on a bar box, there can be more than one "key ball" from either group (stripes or solids). You do not HAVE to say that THIS particular ball HAS to be the key ball. On a 7-foot table, where MOST shots are going to be under 3 feet in distance (if you have any idea of how to play for position), finding the key ball is usually not the problem, clusters are.

You do not have to talk down to us as if you are the "know-all, do-all" of the game of 8-ball. The original poster already stated that he felt that solids offered him the best chance at winning the rack, and that was good enough for me.

If I didn't know better, I'd think PJ has resurfaced!!!

interesting discussion, you learn something new everyday. I was not aware of the TAP rules and it does seem counter-intuitive to have a "legal hit" and foul and still have the pocketed ball declare the category. The league I play in agrees with the OP. Two solids down and open table.
