Balls by the pocket?

I was bored lately, so I started experimenting some weird stuffs.

I put all 6 balls by every pocket. And a cue ball(anywhere you'd like)

And how do I pot all 6 balls in 1 or 2 shots?

And how many shots do you need to pot all of em.

Thanks
Tim

I don't see how it would be possible to do it in 1 or 2 shots. 3, maybe.

Every time the CB hits in OB, it loses momentum.

If someone can actually do it in less than 3 shots, I'd be interested in knowing how. Could be a nice little prop bet.

It is possible, although very difficult, to do in two shots. You place the cb on the end rail and shoot the nearest corner ball with a lot of follow. The cb hugs the long rail, skims the ball into the side, and continues up table to make the other corner ball. From there, you do the same thing on the other side of the table.

There's also a prop bet on this. Make all the balls on the table in six shots or less without scratching. There are actually 7 balls on the table, the 7th being the cb, good luck making it without scratching.

Neil...While I have heard of making it in two shots, the way you described, I've never seen it, and I would bet against it every time. The high spin on the CB, while certainly possible/probable to make the side pocket ball, it will almost certainly not go on to the corner on the same side, due to hitting the ball in the side pocket in the wrong place on the OB. The way we used to play an exercise like this was that you had to spot a ball if you missed. I think it's unlikely for most good players to do this in less than 4 shots...and that would be hittin' 'em good! LOL Of course ANYBODY can make all six balls in 6 shots!

Scott, I also would bet against the way I described. I was just showing that it CAN be done. I know it can be done that way, because I once did it. We were goofing around trying to make the corner ball and a ball in the side on the same shot. On one of the attempts, the cb came off the first ball, hit the rail, bounced off the rail, and made the side ball while coming back to the rail. Off the side ball, it hit the rail once, and went in the corner and scratched. If another ball had been there, it would have made it too. It was a very hard hit on the first ball with extreme follow. And, no, I don't believe I can duplicate it.

To your last line, re-read what I wrote, you have to make ALL the balls on the table in six shots or less. It's a word game gaff. Sadly, you would be surprised at the number of people I have seen try it and fail, and yet they can run out several racks. For some reason, they get all flustered by the easiness of it, and end up trying to figure out some trick pattern to it and end up hooking themselves in a corner and missing the kick. I've seen three good players fail at it, and the rest of us just sat there laughing at them.

Actually as a kid we would try this and the first shot was to cut a side pocket ball in thin and then make 2 of the corner balls... Pray for a small bounce to give you the angel to cut the other side ball in and repeat... Not sure how many times I tried it but the success rate was pretty sad....

Neil...Yes I saw that, but I wasn't speaking to the 'hustle'...rather just trying to pocket the balls in the least number of tries. I was never interested in those "cheating" shots, where you try to fool somebody. In fact, in my shows I teach college kids what those hustles are, so they don't get taken by somebody. As far as the OP's description, I would shoot it the way The Renfro described it, as it has a much higher potential to make 3 balls. It's still a very low percentage shot, imo.

I teach an exercise that uses all 15 balls, with 2 in each pocket, and 3 frozen in the middle. Failure to pocket a ball requires spotting one...scratching requires spotting 2. It's a great exercise, that I've done in 7 shots, but normally takes 10. Going over 20 is a bust.
