Should have posted this here to begin with: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=179588

I have an Elephant Balls pool table. I don't know who really made it but it seems to be a solid table. Other that a less than perfect assembly, the only problem I have is with the balls occasionally popping out of the leather pockets. Do you think this is due to poor assembly? Poor quality? Or is there a common cure? In three to four months I plan to have Rack'em Zach'em &
Shane "Cuephoric" Johnson give me a complete redo. But until then any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks, Ron

Also... Anyone have any info on what brand of table I have under the Elephant Balls name? I've had guesses but...

A couple pics:

A pic from the top looking into the pocket would help a little more. Those are very poor quality pockets though regardless. I doubt its from the install probably the pockets themselves. The table is made by elephant balls. They got into the table importing maybe 8 years or so ago. Out of Columbus ,Oh the first batch of tables they had done could barely even be put together. You got the second go round which were worlds better. They are made in china at a factory where other tables are made by other import table companies and they put there own style to them and put there nameplate on them.

Thanks for the reply. Info is much appreciated. I will try to get a better angle shot of the pockets later today. Will better aftermarket pockets fit into the original pocket area without too much trouble?
Thanks again, Ron

You have #6 pockets so any set using #6 irons should work.
I wouldn't be so fast to blame the pockets - they're all rather generic with the exception of any design in the shield.
Are you getting the popout with balls in the net or with an empty net?

Here are some better pics of the pockets. I think they are popping out because of top spin on the OB and the friction hitting the back of the pocket just pops the ball back up on the table. :scratchhead: Doesn't matter if balls are in pocket already or empty.

Try hitting some balls into the pocket until one comes out and pay very close attention to what the ball does. It may be riding the inside of that pocket around like a roller coaster loop and pooping out. That is what mine were doing, and I had to take measures to fix it. If you notice where the leather inside your pocket with the rounded ridges is, you can see a piece of leather peeking out just under that and it is in front of where your leather pocket webbing is. I had to cut as much of that out as I could because it was causing an upward angle just enough to cause the ball to ride around the pocket. You have to be careful not to cut anything out that is necessary to hold the pocket together, and take the pocket off the table when you do this. Don't do this unless you are confident in your abilities to do it without ruining the pocket. I did this to all my pockets because this was a serious problem, and now I rarely get a pocket jumper. Hope this helps.:D
