Hey everyone out there! I hope all of the beautiful mothers of this world all have their feet up and getting pampered today;) HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO YOU!!
Now that's out of the way, I was wondering what the pool scene is like up in the Baltimore area and where one could go to find a good Pool Hall? Anywhere within an hour driving distance. I have a friend that just moved out to Baltimore which is where her job was sending her. She has found a couple of Pizza joints or whatever that have some tables in them but shes not quite sure where to go. She really enjoys watching great players play too, so if anyone here has some info on this area, LEMME KNOW, where are all the shooters over there??!! lol Thanks in advanced.. and I hope everyone is having a great day!

Baltimore has quite a few pool rooms, all spread out.

I hear a lot of people are going to Big Daddy's in Glen Burnie, a suburb of Baltimore:

Glen Burnie, MD, 21060.

As far as DC goes, there's a few spots in downtown DC. Buffalo Billiards, I think is one of them. It's in area of Northwest D.C.:

IMHO, Virginia has some great pool rooms that are action friendly. First Break in Sterling is one of my faves!

Go to First Breaks in Sterling, VA on Thursday evenings, about 8:00 p.m. They have a weekly $20-entry-fee 9-ball pool tournament.

On Wednesday nights, beginning at 8:00 p.m., go to Orange Ball in Rockville, MD. They have a $25-entry-fee 9-ball tournament. They usually get a good crowd too.

what level of a player is she? just curious.

oops, meant to add another couple of rooms:

Top Hat Cue Club
8809 Satyr Hill Road
Parkville, MD
410-665-1906

Side Pockets
Laurel, MD
*although I hear it is not poolplayer friendly as much as it used to be

The Tiger Planet Pool Tour has a list of rooms they have used in the past that are in the area too:

If your friend is a player, she can also check out the JPNEWT regional tour www.jpnewt.com

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the replies guys! 9 Baller , My friend plays pretty sporty, Her name is Susan, but her friends call her Suzie! You can't miss her she will be the shortest one in the room running tables ;) Let me know if you play or if you could show her a few places. I have never known her to gamble but she will lock horns for practice with anyone .. lol. I am sure she would be greatful to make some new friends in the area!!! Thanks again:thumbup:

she can find plenty of people to practice with at Big Daddy's in Glen Burnie....if she is looking for another female to play, let me know and I will try to put her in touch with someone. I am traveling way too much these days and don't get down Baltimore way much.

Hey guys,

I'm gonna be in the area for 3 months for an internship. Sounds like Big Daddy's is the place to go, right? Do they offer monthly membership? Knowing me, I'll blow my entire savings on table time if they don't.

Side Pockets has a great deal on saturday. $10 for a table, any number of players, from noon to 8pm. Great for practice or action (not sure how much goes down anymore). I believe there are a number of one pocket players there. Avoid after 10pm on many nights, it becomes an extreme bar scene. They have a 9ball tournament $20 entry fee on tuesday nights, open for prac at 7pm, starts at 8pm. True double elimination. A couple weeks ago I went and there were around 15 people. My friend went a one time and there was only 7.

I have heard top hat is good, and I know Big Daddy's is great, probably the best place I have been so far and have been meaning to go back there and probably will over the summer to see what kind of leagues they have.

I have no idea if they offer monthly membership, but let me know if they do!

big daddy's does 30% off for those that play in the leagues there, and i think something for APA. Table time is pretty cheap too at I think $6/hour

Their leagues sound great, in house 8/9 (different tiers for skill, and race to 7 9ball, race to 5 8 ball, loser pays table time for match (1 person rate) that night.) They also have a handicapped straight pool league and weekly tournaments in 9 and 10 ball and i forgot what else.
