Seems that circumstances will cause me to be spending some time around Birmingham/Tuscaloosa during the coming six months. What is the pool world like in the area these days? Should I bring my pool gear or pack fishing gear instead? As always, thanks for y'alls help.

I'll be that way in Madison this for a few days summer and in Sept/Oct time for a month.
 
Haven’t been down there in many years, but I’m pretty sure Poppa’s billiards is still there south of b’ham. You will find action there, just ask bar man. Squirrel and his grandson play out of the pool hall dwntwn in Tuscaloosa. (Don’t know if it’s still there, but there is action in the area). Ask around for David Rowe, he was a well known good player that would know where to go if he is still in the area (B’ham). Happy hunting, Doc

Bama Billiards in Tuscaloosa was sold and is now called something else i think
