Bandido's cues

I shoot with an ER240 shaft.
I also ordered a cue from Mr Reyes for a friend of mine.
Mr Reyes makes great cues and shafts.
His finish is absolutely superb.

Is the hit comparable to any cues out there or is totally different. I admire the work he puts in but bottom line to me is how it plays.

Thanks,

I have shot with two of his cues.
One had a curly maple forearm.
Hit pretty crisp.
One had an ebony forearm. That one of course hit harder.
I don't know how to compare them with another brand of cue.
In my books, good hitting cues are a result of good wood and solid construction ( threaded major parts, quality adhesives and tight air gaps).

I totally agree. I guess that's what I was looking for but just didn't ask too concisely.
Thanks,

I understand that quality adhesives must be used. But can anyone give further insights into what goes into a cuemakers mind in deciding whether a particular adhesive will be suitable for a certain project.;)

I'm not a glue expert but my local maker uses slow setting epoxy with very high shear strength on high stress areas like the ferrule, between forearm and handle and the buttcap (you've pounded on your cue when you missed, have you? :) ).
Some cueamakers just use white/yellow glue because they are cheap. Yikes! I once saw a ferrule repaired b/c it was coming off.
The ferrule had 5/16 18 thread. The cuemaker ( an ACA member) did not thread the tenon; it was undersized at 1/4 and it was glued with yellow glue.

it depends on the materials, some glues works well with wood while others works well with plastics, so when glueing different materials the cue maker would have to use an adhesive which is compatible to both types of surfaces to be bonded....

Torture

Tried to look all over the net for pictures of the Torture Cue. ED, is there a way that you or the owner can post complete pics (showing all parts) of the set here?;)

Ok Monski, here's the bottom part, that didn't show up clear in the other photo, and me carving it. The owner and I are putting together a thread for PPP titled "The making of TORTURE".

Torture Cue was the topic of conversation at the Cue Collectors' Show in LA.
What an original concept.
Great, great work.

Looks like the skull at the butt is taunting on lookers with a naughty smile. I like the red touch in the eyeballs. Can those eyes hypnotize you or something? If you won't put the break cue here, I guess we will have to wait for it in the PPP thread. The ppp thread seems to be something to look forward to. ;)

You will need to sign up at Poolplayersparadise.com, it's free and you can view pics of this cue there now.

That looks almost like an acme thread.
Laminated handle too.

It is ACME because I find that it creates a hefty enough thread on the wood. The handle is indeed laminated to increase its warp resistance and ......

Giving away some trade secrets eh ER?
Not too many cuemakers would bother using wooden tenon.
It takes a little more work.
It's much easier just to tap a hole and use metal/aluminum studs.
But, imo, wooden studs work better.

Cues are supposed to be made from wood and other natural materials, nothing else. No metal in my cues less the joint screw.
