Bank tournament handicaps?

Banks

Banned
Working on my plans to start a banks tournament here in PDX, using 4 Diamond barboxes..

I'm trying to decide if I want to try some kind of handicapping system, since there can be a huge divide between good bankers and others. Is there a way to do a simple handicap? Maybe add 1 ball for those that finished in the money last time or top 2 or something?

I'm thinking of having it either a $10 or $20 tournament with $50 or $100 added.

How about a bnr pot? Not sure if doing a high run pot would be easy to keep track of.

Any other ideas?

So far, I figure short rack banks, race to two games. Some games can take a while, which is why I don't want to go any further than that.

Don't race to games, race to balls.

Lots of people can put together several cross side or one rail backs and win the game, make it first to 15 balls or something like that.

Handicap can range from spotting a person balls, to if a pro played they might have say 2 no count or any number of other things.

Thanks for the input.

I was thinking about the ball race thing, but I'm not sure if that might just get confusing for some players and may be a pain to track.

As for the range.. Atwell was the only true pro in our area and he hasn't been around for a couple of years now. The rest range from strong local masters to C players, maybe a few shortstops if they'd even bother trying the tournament. I'm looking for something kind of simple, because I don't think I've got the patience to keep track of more than who's won money. :embarrassed2: How weak is the banking around here? I'm a B and can give most people a run for their money.

I like your idea of going to a certain amount of balls, but just make it a number of balls spot. If he wants to limit it to 2 games you could do like a 10-8 race or so on and so on.
