Banking & Kicking with Dead Rails

Any pearls of wisdom on how to take some of the guess work out of banks and kicks off these?

I played two 9-ball league matches last night on two different tables. One table had two dead rails; a side and a back rail. My opponent, being the good player and bright guy that he is, played a few safes requiring kicks or banks off those dead rails.

I used extra speed, and made minor adjustments to my aim to compensate. While I had some success, I also gave up BIH way more than I would like to. I'm asking if there are any good rules of thumb to guide aiming and speed on these shots.

Thanks!

My friends table has 2 DEAD rails, it sucks so bad when you try to bank them off of it and it makes that "thuddd" sound. I just avoid them if I have the option, becaue every dead rail is different, so there is no possible way you can practice on one and then be ready for the next one. Just my opinion.

All you have to do is shorten the angle significantly. IMO if they're consistently dead (LOL) it's a lot easier because you can get the CB out of the way much easier on wrong-angle banks. It's stupid to have to adjust for dead rails, but that's my solution... shorten the angle; hit the OB more flush.

i refuse to play on tables with dead rails. if i'm payin for time i make sure i want to spend time on the table. i don't play league so i usually choose when and where i play. i did it once , i'll never do it again
