Barbox cue ball help

ball-banger

I hate this damn game!

I recently bought a new cue ball to use on the table at a bar that I frequent. The cue ball at the bar is a p.o.s. I bought the Aramith green logo ball. The problem is, sometimes it feeds to the cueball return like it should, and sometimes it feeds down to the window with the other balls. The house cue ball feeds to the return every time, so i guess the magnet is ok. Any of you have this problem with the Aramith cue ball before? Which barbox cue ball would you recommend? Thanks in advance for any help.

I saw this sort of problem at the bar I shot at for a long time.. maybe it is the same.

The metal rail was bent a little bit where the CB would separate from the other balls. So half of the time the CB would land on the rail and not fall to the side to go back to the return. You may want to take a look at that and see if a little tweaking may fix your problem. That may be why the magnetized CB can fall - it gets a little extra help.

In the bar's case, the company they started leasing tables from over the summer is worse than useless - every table has a different roll, after 8 months the rails are starting to go, etc etc etc. I was called at work one day because the person sent out by the company couldn't see any table roll when they came out. This is on a table that could easily roll off 4-6 inches on a full table slow roll. I now walk an extra block to another bar with older, faster tables that are cleaned by the owner and only cost one quarter instead of two.

If you post this in the Mechanics forum you'll get the right answer from guys that set them up. Johnnyt

I recently purchased a new set of Aramith Super Pro balls for my bar box table. Had an old magnetic ball that worked well but decided to buy a new Aramith green logo ball because of the new set. It did very well for the first week and then I cleaned all the balls with Aramith Cleaner. It still was working well. After another week or two, I cleaned the balls again, and then again after another two weeks or so. I do have a thing about clean balls. Now the magnetic ball only returns to the cue ball box only now and then. Cleaned the Aramith cue ball with the cleaner feeling that perhaps it was dirty. Now is almost never returned to the cue box. I was thinking about adjusting the magnet. Then I read your thread and I decided to pull out the old cue ball. Well it worked like a charm. Now I'm thinking that perhaps the Aramith Ball Cleaner puts a coating on the ball that interferes with the magnetic attraction. I plan to wash the ball with dish detergent and water and try it again. I'll let you know the results.

Perhaps the Aramith Magnetic Cue Ball (non-logo version) with the ferrous core. The green logo uses magnetized properties spread through the ball.

However, the green logo's are used on our Valley Cougars w/o any problems.

Normally, you have to adjust the magnet position or install a different magnet to get the consistant pull. Because it sometimes pulls it correctly, you're probably just need to adjust a hair, depending on your table style.

bar tables are usually crap and have these problems all the time. just use the regular cue ball the rest of the game or bring along a second cue ball and get them back when you play the next game.
