Just a shot in the dark. I am hoping they still play and are on this forum. Looking for guys who played at the Barksdale AFB Rec Center in the early to mid 90's. Eddie Thrift and Scott Anderson are 2 that I am looking to reconnect with.

Wow!! A small world. I used to play there back in the 80's, then I went back in 1998 and was disappointed to see all those beautifully maintained Gold Crowns and Sport Kings all gone. I also played with Scott Anderson aka "Junior" if I remember right, not sure where he is now though. I also remember playing with a real good player named Bobby Johnson, played professionally in Montana, I think his father was the owner pool hall in Clarksville TN. Bobby was way out of my league, just remember doing a lot of watching when I played him.

Those Gold Crowns sure were nice. Eddie's wife was the Mgr of the rec center when I was there. Tables used to get recovered about every year. Some real good players were there in the early to mid 90's. Jesus Rosado was another pretty good player I remember. I heard at some point Scott went on to become a MTI for basic training.

That rec center was one of the best poolrooms i've been in. Nice tables, well maintained, friendly place, and always someone decent to play.

Did any of you guys come down to Leesville and shoot any? That was my haunt '87-'91...The only time I ever got up to Alexandria for pool was once at some Country Western dive (don't remember the name, but it was pretty big) playing $5-$10 8 ball on a bar box. Some kid air-barreled me after doubling down on $10 for $20 he didn't have. I took his high school class ring off him for it, still have the tritium P.O.S. as a reminder of how stupid people get when they gamble.

The Air Force always did have better facilities than us Army folks...:frown: There was a good one for all services up in Mannheim Germany in the early '90s, lots of GCs that were very well maintained--long gone now. :frown:

Never made it to Leesville. Stayed mostly in town. Played a lot at Pockets downtown Shreveport which was the old Guys and Dolls. Billy Shick opened his room not long before I left. We went to CJ Wiley's place in Dallas a time or two. Big John the Mgr from Pockets opened his own little place in Bossier once Pockets closed down. Played there a good bit. That was in 93\94. I left there end of 94\early 95.

Just realized...I am old...LOL
