Mick Hill (6x World Champion/ 2x Runner up of English 8ball), arguably GOAT of English 8ball/English pool/British pool takes on Buste playing big table WPA/American 8Ball. Race to 90. 😁 I am sure last thing he wants to hear he gets on hill hill is commentator screaming "Hill is hill hill"

“Bustie is over the Hill“ would be confusing commentary.

yes, the balls makes it funky to watch. i'm having it on in the background on the tablet. the commercial breaks are too frequent and too long. commentary is expected to be bad with so many matches/week i guess. but still it seems be a sustainable business model what they're doing

"Best of 179", lol. I wonder if there is a line drawn when the Englishmen switch to a "race to" at some point. Like, "best of 1599", is that clear enough?

As usual with Sharks and Filippino audience, they do it for side betting sake. And it is always huge.

yes, and seems to be getting enough kickback for it to be a good business model. they're even staging a matchroom tour event with big prize money.

That is an interesting rule set they are doing, I don't think I have ever thought of picking solids or stripes before the game started, but it seems like a fun idea. Although I would do it for every game, and let a coin flip decide. Going to play a bit this weekend with people using that rule.

Day 2
Mick Hill can feel the heat as he is hot on heels of Buste in an uphill battle to beat Buste to the hill. Still long way to go to fill the gap.

All things being equal, I would think shooting a stripe ball is slightly easier than shooting a solid ball, since the extra lines on a stripe ball can help anchor the contact point location. So if I had the option to choose, I'd choose stripes every time.

Anyone know if this was a coin flip and the winner of the flip decides what set they want to shoot? Or was it purely a random decision?

I tend to agree. And, based on that, I think the most fair approach would have been alternating such otherwise forced choice of balls. For instance, 10 racks Mick plays stripes, next 10 rack Django takes stripes, and so on. Might be 20 instead of 10 if the organizers prefer so.

What is the score? I went on, and it’s Edgie vs Baseth. And I’m happy to hear Edgie’s last name pronounced correctly.
