Just interested if any AZ'ers are members for this league and if anyone has been paid? Rumors are flying that the league has no money and the players are being left "high and dry".

Well, let's get this going. Who runs this league??

I recently played in the tournament held at the Windstar casino in Oklahoma. The tournament was put on by the SWEL organizaton. It has been held in the past in Grapevine Mills. My team was fortunate enough to win the Men's A division team event. We were paid by check immediately after the tounament, and the checks cleared just fine. The only complaint about the event was the fact that it was advertised as a money added tournament. In reallity there was no money added and the payouts were not posted until the finals of the teams matches.

I think you guys are talking about seperate Leagues here. Not sure though.

The league he's talking about is the Southwest 8ball League (SWEL) that's based here in Dallas, TX and has sub-leagues in different cities around the Dallas area. The league's end of the year tournament was held at Winstar Casino in Oklahoma and had a few teams from OK playing in it.

A lot of the Dallas teams didn't get paid any league money that was owed to them from the regular season results. There's going to be a big meeting tomorrow and I'm sure a lot of questions should be answered at that time.

Calling Jay Helfert,Calling Jay Helfert:eek: :D

Hopefully you'all will get this resolved. Who is the league operator?

acutally most of the divisions have been paid. Although I personally know of a few "b" teams in the dallas divisions that have not gotten paid yet. I'm not sure when they will get there money, but I'm sure Robert Tabor(the league owner/operator) will not leave them high and dry indefinitely.

BTW this is the the League system that was started by RandyG many many years ago and then sold to BOI (Billiards Options and Investments) several years ago when Randy got out of the league business. For what its worth, according to my sources Tabor has been man handled by the IRS the last couple of years! Freezing accounts and getting charged HUGE fines for some reason or another. Hopefully it can get resolved BEFORE the league players say enough is enough and go a different route. It would be a shame for such a good league to go out like this... So much work has been put into it over the years.
