I heard that you no longer get a member ship card..is this true ?
I didn't want to tell my friend that he was incorrect..even though
I thought he was..is he correct ?

I believe the APA is now issuing plastic renewable cards and no longer giving those paper cards each year. Perhaps that is part of the confusion.

I played two sessions of BCAPL about a year and a half to two years ago. I never got a membership card. They also never updated the player statistics the entire time I played. No trophies, no money, nothing to show for my time there. Great people though other than the ones running it. I was sorry to go but the problems were too much.

I wrote Mark a PM here after I left telling him about it and asking if he could do anything about it. It's the Northern Virginia BCA. Hopefully things have changed. Mark answered my PM thanking me for letting him know but I never heard anything after that.

Purpldrag;

The BCAPL is a sanctioning body with over 500 league operators.
They play by different rules, different games and different size teams.

Some are Handicap and others are scratch.

Each league has their own by-laws and rules.

It is unfortunate but we do not have the control over the individual league operators like the APA and TAP do.

That is one of the freedoms of the BCAPL systems - it is also one of the weaknesses of the BCAPL system.

We are dependent on the honesty and integrity of the local league operator.

We take corrective action if there is a reason. Sometimes it is hard to get all the facts - or maybe we only heard one side of the story.

I am sorry if we did not resolve your issue. I am pretty sure we tried to.

true, it's a five year card. You still pay yearly, but the card itself is good for 5 years.

IMO each league having their own rules and by laws is what creates most issues, drama, and league BS... That's like saying well the NFL is one organization but all the teams throughout the U.S. have their own by laws and play by their own rules depending on each teams owner and where the games are played....JMO

NFL as an analogy, good but I believe football would be more on point. And each level of football is played or done differently. Sure there are problems but there are also good points.
With good league operators they can adjust to the different degrees of players. I like the fact that with the BCAPL it's not all done the exact same way.
