Bee's wax help asap

Clean the joint area of all loose debris, use a propane torch to heat the joint slightly, then melt the wax into the joint area about an inch wide, allow to cool enuff to slightly harden and scrape off the excess with a 3 to 4 in scraper with a non flexible blade, allow it to cool for a few mins , feel to make sure it didnt sag and repeat if nessasary.

I don't mean to sound condesending, but for any newbies reading this....he is talking about the joint between pieces of slate on a pool table, not the joint on a pool cue!!!!

Since I'm a good AZB'er and immediately do anything and everything posted on this board, I just friggin' torched up my priceless Balabushka. Not to mention that I now have melted wax all over the place. Damnit!

LOL :p

LOL, nows a good time for a tip change.

Hey Mechanic/Player... what kind of putty, or other materials can be used? I know a world class mechanic that uses a putty, but I don't know what it is.

I have seen guys use all kinds of plaster/grout, latex caulk, paraffin wax, bondo, dry wall mud, water putty and who knows what all else. I use bee's wax only. The method that Mechanic/Player discribed is exactly how I do my seams.

Scott...what you have is indeed for slate seems. Try your local hardware or woodworking shop...any "wood" paste wax. Follow my directions...trust me...you'll love it.

Scott...just looked at your link. I'm guessing what you bought is EXTREMELY hard...yes/no. If its very hard almost like plastic then its like the "Hog Shine" wax that Prather sells for shafts. Very difficult to use without a lathe. I stopped using it. You have to be very careful because its so hard it will dent/scar your shaft. With the Hogshine you actually have to hold a lighter or torch on it to create a smooth "valley" if you will...and hold it with VERY light pressure against the shaft while its spinning on the lathe. I guess you could do the same with what you have but just use arm action if you have no lathe access. I've never held your product in my hand so I don't know if its as hard as Hogshine...but I'm guessing yes.
PM me & I'll explain the paste wax in more detail. And don't listen to the no-wax nay sayers...
