Beeswax question

This is probably a really dumb question, so I apologize in advance. Is there a need to get a stick or could it be a bottle form of beeswax, something like Howard Wood Polish and Conditioner.

I only ask because I have that at my house, didn't feel like ordering a beeswax stick if it sets the same way anyways. It probably doesn't but wanted to ask first.

You can only use the solid form pure beeswax. It is available in stick or some places sell it in blocks. Anything else is mixed with other ingredients and will not work AT ALL!

There is several ways to apply beeswax... But it must be pure beeswax. Hobby stores and gun supply store is the best source a DIY will commonly find.
The slate must be preheated at the seam before you apply the wax or else the wax will solidify and chip/flake off the slate when you run your tool along the seam to surface the top.

Since you have to go out and get something, you can go get bondo instead and get a better result.

I am not sure if I would ever use Bondo on my table again. The first time I put it together I used beeswax without any trouble whatsoever. The second time I set it up after having the rails modified on my Gold Crown I cleaned out the beeswax and used Bondo, most said it was best to use for seams, but I thought it was more work than the beeswax. With the beeswax I preheated the seam a little and dripped beeswax on the seam then used a straight edge razor to level it. It was quick and easy. The Bondo took 2 or 3 coats, not over the entire area but in spots because it seems like you always get little grooves or air pockets from the applicator. FWIW it was definitely not the first time I have used Bondo on something. Take my info with a grain of salt because I am not a table mechanic, just sharing my experience. I got my beeswax from a hardware store/lumber yard, not a big box store, a quality hardware store.
