Bender? Brick? Identify this cue please

My friend has a cue that he bought used off a buddy about 11 years ago. I don't think it was too old at that time, but I'm not sure.

When he bought it he was told it was an Alex Brick. However, more recently, he had a friend who's a cue-maker look at the cue and proclaim it to be a Mike Bender. Specifically, the cue-maker took the bumper off the butt and looked at that and seemed to see something that made him think it's a Bender.

There are no markings on the cue that I can tell, not on the pin, on he butt or inside the butt. So we've taken pictures and are hoping that the cue experts here can help us out.

All help is greatly appreciated.

Not a Brick ...

I have have owned close to (20) Alex Brick Cues and do not see any "earmarks" of his work in this Cue ... His Bumpers push in and he never uses a weight bolt or ever threads the Butt for a bolt (at least in every Brick I have seen, mine or others) ...

As for Bender, I have no experience ...

Something in that cue reminds me of a Gilbert, but maybe I'm just typing this because I'm hungry and not thinking straight. Did Gilbert even make cues on his own 11 yrs ago?
 
I thought Mike Bender had markings on his pins, similar to how southwest does it. All the benders I have had were marked this way.

U R write. ALL Benders have his name on the pen.

If you have access to a 3/8 x 10 (Mcdermott or similiar) shaft try screwing it on.

Let us know the result.
 
Thanks for the help guys. I do in fact have a 3/8x10 shaft I can try screwing on. Is that just to check the size of the pin, or am I looking for something else?

regardless, I'll do it the next time i see him and let you guys know (might be a couple days).
 
Doesn't appear to be a bender...

Ring work doesn't look right and not a Bender pin...

I'm 99% SURE your cue is a BRICK. I think you have a very early example which features a proprietary screw which is not a 3/8 x10 thread.

I'm 100% sure your cue is not a BENDER.

Ok I'll check it out. If the 3/8x10 doesn't quite fit right does that make it 100% a brick? and if so, would you happen to know about what time frame it was made?

Its a metric thread pitch. According to Alex he made few cues using this proprietary pin in the beginning. They were custom made pins and got too expensive to use.
I can't tell what the cue is in this thread.
