I am starting work on refinishing 2 Brunswick Medalist tables. I want to send the trim pieces off to get powder coated. I was think of drilling the rivets and removing the plates. I am worried it might not be this easy. Are the plates glued or pressed in? Will they need to be pried out? I am worried of chipping the veneer. Any info will be gratley appreciated.

The rivets are decorative. Plate is glued in. You can try heating the plate up to get the glue to release. Tap on it a few times to help. WORSE case, you can always pilot drill a hole from underneath. insert small driver and give it a whack! Seriously, hit it a few times and it should come off.
