Best Banker Alive

Not Eddie Taylor, Daulton, Truman, Freddie, Varner, Hall, and the list goes on, beat Vernon Elliott at banks. He has great admiration for Bugs game but the two never played.
Looking for a nice bank game---------any action out their?

This thread is about who you would have shoot a straight back for you today. In Kentucky, we call these "electric chair" banks. If you miss you go to the electric chair.

If we want to pick someone from the past, that opens up the field quite a bit. Eddie Taylor is acknowledged to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest banker of all time. He did an interview for onepocket.org a few years ago. He said that he played a man in Louisville, Kentucky that he was never able to win any money from playing banks. This guys name was Bob Bose. He never played in any tournaments and he never traveled much. The only way you got to see him play was to wander into the pool room where he happened to be playing.

Anyone that wants bank action should come to the 2009 Derby City Classic January 23 through January 31 at the Horseshoe Hotel and Casino in Elizabeth, IN (near Louisville, KY.)

Reportedly it was done in Ashville, NC more than 45 years ago during an action game for small change. when his turn came he made 10 in one game and immediatley in the following game he broke and ran 15 and in the following game he made 12 .

I was lucky to see 'The Bear' months before he passed away.Grady arranged some sort of ceremony - HOF or something like that in Shreveport , LA in 2004 and I was there for that.On that day 'The Knoxville Bear ' gave exhibition of a bank shot and postion play after that shot.It was amazing.Even if I practice for 12 hours a day for 365 days I will never be able to duplicate that shot.
That was for EddieTaylor's One Pocket Hall of Fame induction. His health was not good enough for him to travel to Louisville for induction with Grady and the others in that first class, so I arranged for a special local event in Shreveport for Eddie. Grady was the Master of Ceremonies. I am glad you had a chance to go; I wish I could have. HLike you said, he died just a few months later.

I like Brian Gregg's bank game real well, he not only banks the balls as good as anyone, but he plays all games well. He looks like he's playing an instrument when stroking the cue...

Good luck with your new venture Brian
