i have a redundant question. What is the best break cue under 300.00. all opinions welcome. Please specify weights and so on. I have never owned a break cue and i don't know what to look for when purchasing one. thanks.

there really is no right answer to this question only because hit and feal of any cue are subjective to a persons stroke and preferance, although i'm sure you will get a borage of this is best and that is best. my advice to you is try and use some break cues of other players at your hall and decide which one is most comfortable to you. personally, i use a pre cutech excaliber VII that i bought at sports authority for $30 and put a saber-t ferulle and white dimond tip on for $50 and it crushes the rack for me.

Big Bang

The J&J Break/jump cue from Chrisonline for $60. I have bought 2, and an
extra shaft for one of them.

Big Bang for the buck.

I recently got an Elite break stick from CueStix and it works very well.

It was cheap too!!

If you are willing to spend 300, why not go with the best?

The Predator BK2 is faster (surely this is a good thing), and more accurate (also a good thing) than any other break cue ever tested.

It was engineered for speed and accuracy.
Nothing subjective about it - like the first Big Bertha when it came out; it was simply the best. Took a little getting used to but it was worth it.

I get more cueball speed with a Stve Klein purpleheart 6-pointer than a BK2. My Klein is also stiffer than the BK2 I tried. Perhaps it's because the BK2 I borrowed for half an hour was 19oz. My Klein is 18oz, and I prefer both my breaking and playing cues even lighter than that.

a Varney would be my choice - amazing breakers and jump great too. wouldn't swap mine for the world.

also you mention the weight. you way have the traditional notion in your head that heavier is better, or you may have been (or will be) taken in by the 'lighter is better' theory which everybody says nowadays.

people say lighter is better because you can generate more speed. and while this is ideally true, everybody is built different. a big bulky strong bloke ain't gonna be able to to generate the same speed as a thinner, faster, more athletic person.
likewise a heavy cue is no good for a weaker person. there's a skinny girl i know that breaks with a cue over 20oz cue. it doesn't work lol.

food for thought. personally i have a light cheap fury which i used before i got my varney. while it's fun to really give it everything i've got and throw all my body into the break and generate loads of speed, i don't have much accuracy. my hit on the one is not very square. then i've got my beast of a varney breaker which is a touch heavier and also miles more powerful. i can break a bit slower and therefore have much more control over the cueball. but still hit the rack harder than i ever could with my fury.

I've rambled on a lot here but hope i could help.
