Best Chalk Holder

I am trying to do a little research on a chalk holder. I have read so much about the Blue Diamond Chalk, I am kind of interested in trying it out and if I am going to do so, I would like to find the best chalk holder out there.

I like the chalk holder case that was mentioned in one thread that Sang Lee had but I'm not sure if I will use it for anything more than a storagecase. I like the idea of putting some silicate in the case to keep the chalk dryer. It's humid where I live and play so that might help some.

I don't miscue often but I would love to reduce the number of miscues by any number or percentage.

I'm looking for a chalk holder that is DURABLE, very durable and one that will hold the chalk without the chalk coming off from my belt or falling out of my pocket.

BigTruck was talking to me about some super magnet chalk holder that someone had given him and I never got the chance to see it when he was down here visiting.

I am open to all of your recommendations. If you are a serious chalk holder kind of person, I would love to hear your thoughts and preferences.

Thanks,
JoeyA

I've been carrying my own BD and Balabuska chalk, so a chalk holder was a necessity. I bought a cheapie magnetic holder at my local hall just for the chalk cube box and cover. I then took an old cell phone squeeze-to-release clip, drilled out the pivot pin for the phone case, and epoxied a 3/8" dia. wafer-type super magnet in the hole. Usually it's clipped inside my front pants pocket rather than my belt so I don't get chalk on my shirt when I bend down over a shot. Works great, and rarely gets knocked off since the magnet is so strong. I firmly believe you can develop a more consistent pre-shot routine when you're carrying your own chalk.

Wow,

And I thought I was picky.

I have a lot to learn from you guys, seriously.

I hope Earl S. doesn't see this thread!

Ultimate Chalker

I've had this for about 5 years. It hooks over your belt, and the waistband of your pants, and can't come off. I did lose the first chalk holder by leaving it lay on the table we were sitting at, but I just made another holder by finding some steel, and bending it to fit a piece of chalk, then I glued the chalk cube to the metal. I purchased the new one from AZ in their store, just in case I lost mine. See the picture....that is a cube of Blue Diamond after about a year of use....I may need a new cube soon!!!!

CARRY YOUR OWN, THAT WAY YOU WON'T NEED TO USE THE DRILLED OUT JUNK LEFT OVER FROM THE BANGER'S TOURNAMENT!!!

Why don't you just do like the "big boys" do and carry a piece to the table with you, then pick it up and use it after each shot (carrying it around with you from shot to shot), and when your turn at the table is over, pick your chalk up and set it by your cue holder next to your cue???

This is how I do it, but then, I suck at pool!!!

There may be others, but "Hillbilly" Bryant is the ONLY pro I've ever seen that uses a chalk holder.

Hi,
I use a leather chalk pouch that I make.

It is made of real leather, double layered.

Will not come off your belt and/or make a big mess as the chalk get low.

Very easy to carry around, and is very durable.

Does not get in the way of the chalk with the stick or what not.

It does not consist of two parts so you don't need to worry about one part getting lost.

It can be attached to the front, back and side, with or without a belt.

Hope you like it. :)

Thank you.

I bought one of the leather chalk pouches from Aurora a few weeks ago and it is great.

I was using a leather pocket chalker and it worked great until the chalk got too low. I found that when I brushed the chalk on, the sides of the chalker would then pass over the tip wiping the chalk off. Extremely annoying.

I like the chalk POUCH because it lets me use the piece of chalk with nothing attached to it and it is always right there with me.

I think Aurora is also doing engraving on the leather chalkers...check out her thread in the W/FS forum: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=156463

Problem for me is, I'm already catchin' enough grief for wearin' a glove when I shoot. Can you imagine how much crap I'd have to endure if I wore a glove AND one of these chalk pouches :grin::grin::grin:???

P.S. I've always thought the chalk pouches were a great idea!!!

Here is what I when I step to the table and may be exactly what you are looking for. You can place the silicate in the bowl and you place the chalk on top of the bowl. You can also fill the bowl with sneezing powder or flash powder when you are not shooting. It's a little bulky but this holder also gives you amazing good luck and from I understand can increase your performance and girth (that's what the box says). As always, I am very happy to help.

I kind of like the pants pocket attaching method.

Aurora, I'm not too sure about the leather pouch. It looks great on you but I have one of those shallow male egos and won't carry a man purse, so for me to consider the leather pouch, you would have to masculine the pouch up a bit. But seriously, it seems like a pretty good idea. I have a leather pouch for a cell phone that would work for carrying the chalk but I am kind of like a little boy with too much energy and a little ADD thrown in the mix and the clip will eventually fall off of my belt. I need to put the holder through my belt and not a clip on.

I used to get the grief about the glove until I put "THE SCHMITTY" on a few of them. I think I'll have to massage my frail ego before I wear a pouch. Already, I am thinking momma kangaroo. LOL. Still, like you I think it is a good idea.

I am so used to using chalk off of the table, I know it will be hard to break such an old habit.

What is the cost for this little jewel?

If I'm going to the trouble of purchasing Super Chalk, I don't want to be an even bigger azz when my opponent asks to borrow my chalk and have to tell him/her NO. I figure I will probably forget the chalk on the table and that would interfere with my mojoe. Besides, I have never liked guys who picked up the only piece of chalk off of the table and brought it back to their seat. (A top player who gambles told another person I know that he does this purposefully to aggravate his opponent) Go figure..

Thank you so much, I am very happy to hear that--it is always nice to be appreciated.

I also offer leather tooling of names or initials, but I do not have any pictures to show now. I will try to get some pictures up in a few days in my for sale thread. They are hand tooled and will not come off or fray.

JoeyA,
Here are some more pictures of the chalk pouch just to show that these are not designed only for girls. LOL.
You can put your precious chalk in the pouch and no one can/will grab your chalk away from you.
It goes well with both dressed formal wear and casual jeans and such.
Here is a video of a player playing snooker with a chalk pouch:

Enjoy...
