I'm looking to find a good 3D computer pool game that can either be found for free on the internet or one that I would buy and install on my computer.

Virtual Pool was always my favorite, but I haven't played with the newer versions, and can't comment on what it's like now.

Cue club is pretty decent, only thing that I don't like is not being able to put reverse english on but the graphics are nice and there should be a demo online somewhere.

I can only speak for virtual pool 3

I can only speak for virtual pool 3. It is really nice, and
unlike the original version, it allows jump shots. There
appears to be a newer version on sale via internet download.

Unfortunately I don't use the Windows OS much any more,
except for a few games now and then. I only have Windows
98, and on 2 different computers, Virtual Pool 3 will hang
the machine when tracking lines are on within a few minutes.
Once machine has a Voodoo 3 2000 graphics card, and the
other has a Rage Mobility M3. The game has also hung the
machines a couple times without tracking lines on, but not
enough to be painful.

Virtual Pool 3 is updated, current, and runs great on both XP and Vista.

It's easy to find a good game against some guys who are real pool players and know the game very well. Not hard to get into some online tournaments as well. They can become competitive.

I think a pool game without draw is pretty limited.

Virtual Pool allows you to play draw, follow, swerve, masse, reverse and running side spin, jump shots, double jump shots (jump an object ball over an obstruction), and nearly anything you can do on a real table. The last time I looked, you could get VP for about $10 at Fry's.

i bought detroit hustle based on one of the pool mags recommendation. Its pretty cool, its got a story line and you can gamble and stuff, its actually pretty hard, its not one of those pool games where you just come in and kick butt. You can do jump shots and masses, all teh englishes work, hit it too hard and you probably will bobble it, actually its prettty frickin realistic now that i think about it lol

I'll second everyone above virtual pool is very realistic. I will add to that i love the layout of it. You travel from bar to bar, pool hall to pool hall playing the locals at each "level". You can choose who you play based on how much you want to gamble. You can then play tougher opponents with your winnings or buy new cues. The instructional videos from jeannette lee are also a plus :)

I asked myself this question about four years ago. To find the answer I spent about six months searching the web to find the best and most realistic pool game online. After six months I found the sight called Flyordie.com This is a multiplayer online pool game that features all of the realistic features you would expect from a great pool game and an elaborate online multiplayer system and chat forum. There is no fee to join all you have to do is create a username and password because the system ranks you do to your performance and gives you a level. You can play 8 ball 9 ball or Snooker. You challenge other players of any level from 0 to 1000 and play them in the traditional game with realistic and very accurate rules. It is a great site and A great learning tool...I have not found anything over the four years that comes even remotely close to the game play of this wonderful site.

Enjoy,

Michael Kendall

NOTE: There are different versions of VP 3

Just a note, so you don't get disappointed or surprised. Some
(the older I believe) versions of VP3 have Jeanette Lee, and
others have a character named "Curly".
