best cue tip tool

For me the best way to trim a m'room tip is to use a japanese kiradashi knife. SHARP as fk and goes thru leather like shit thru a goose. just tape off the ferrule, trim, polish the side of tip with super fine sandpaper and burnish. done. https://www.knifecountryusa.com/sto...h7213j7xe4LCxAE0jzAmVg21zC_q0hoRoCsg4QAvD_BwE
I've never needed to tape the ferrule when using a Kiridashi knife to trim a tip--even for the first tip install I did following Dr. Dave's tip install video. A cheap Kiradashi knife ($12) and a block of wood is all you need. Here's the Kiridashi knife I bought:

To fix a mushroomed tip, you can just follow the latter part of Dr. Dave's video (after he glues on a new tip). Here's a video of an alternate way to use a Kiridashi knife to fix a mushroomed tip:

taping it off is cheap insurance. if you dog it with a blade that sharp you may end up needing a new ferrule.

Last4ever tip tool is my personal favorite.

Nickel or dime?

Last4ever tip tool is my personal favorite.

That is not a mushroom tool
yes it is, check out the videos. it shapes, scuffs, burnishes and repairs mushroomed tips. There is a separate side of the tool for each function.
the last4ever tip tool does advertise it as a tool for mushroomed tips
below is a video using the last4ever tip tool for mushroom repair and burnishing
personally i think the last4ever is a great tip tool which i carry in my case
but for mushrooming i like one of the tools which cut the over hang of the tip off
(i use one that looks like a pencil sharpener and just recently bought the longoni at the suggestion of @skor but have not had a chance to use it yet)

Exactly. No different than using a flat file. Disaster is coming.
So which is it? Can the Last4Ever tip tool not be used to fix mushrooming, or can it, just not well at all? As the owner of one that’s satisfactorily fixed close to a half-dozen mushroomed tips, I’d like to know.
